They do work with any version.

However, the user-made ones (and the older official ones), might missing few of the new NKS 2 image resources.

Nothing that we can't fix easily though.

NKS 1 is still supported, so yes both Komplete Kontrol 3 and Kontakt 7/8 support NKS 1 and NKS 2 maps

For sure - the user was talking about KK though, so I assumed some keyboard centric bias.

    Ok thanks.
NKS2 is what everyone who bought the MK3 keyboards is after (as that's the integration we've been sold), but the uptake from developers has been slow and disappointing, seeming like an afterthought.

@Matthew_NI , regarding my question on FX control through NKS, what is the current status and roadmap, in order to be able to handle and control FX chains better (it seemed liked only the first instance was easily controlable in an FX chain, while one would expect a workflow that's as good if not better than Push3 with the Ableton FX)

Speaking of Push3, has NI chatted with Ableton at all about NKS integration? It would be amazing to be able to browse and control 3rd party devices and FX in Ableton via the Push.

On Maschine controllers, as Maschine MK2 (and MK1) controllers (oh and the retired Kontrol S Mk1…) are being retired/EOLed, would it not make sense to at least open them to NKS1 (if the Launchkey mk4 can do it, what prevents older Native Instruments controllers from doing it, as it doesn't seem like a hardware stack issue then?)

Finally, are users going to have the same issues where it is impossible to connect 2 x NKS controllers side by side?
I would love to have my S61 MK3 on the Jaspers next to my desk and a smaller say Launchkey MK4 or something even smaller on the desk for direct access to parameters, but I presume the same limitations apply than trying to have a MK3 + a MK2 Kontrol S connected at the same time (or a MK3 + an M32).
It's something that is really lacking at the moment, that is bound to surprise a lot of users now that more gear becomes NKS compatible.

Competition means having new exciting products even though you are NKS partners.

Arturia makes retro softsynth emulations sure, but also popular modern flagship softsynth options like Pigments and modern hardware hybrid options like the Minifreak (based on modern modular tech), that is the competition. Not to forget, all Arturia plugins supports GUI scaling and can uninstall products via the software manager.

Of course you buy from both companies but the pendulum of excitement might swing towards one company.

Update: Arturia just released Pigment 6 (free update)

The M32 MK1 had a Q1 2019 release (if I remember correctly) and is due for an upgrade (five years). Just saying. We could see at least an M-series release in February or March.

Would love for it to have Arturia Keystep features to make it more useful as a sequencer and not only a mobile secondary unit.

I find the M32 too gimmicky as a whole. It doesn't even play well when hooked up to the back of a Push3 for some reason (while the Keystep works well in that scenario)
Something with 37 minikeys with poly AT, 8 encoders + 8 displays is what's needed to stick on a desk or for mobile applications.
I don't want a tiny little screen (and S series MK3 is great but for either studio or stage locally)

I would not be surprised if we see a M37 too (or the M37 replacing the M32). The MK2 would likely have small light guide LEDs and hopefully an internal updateable internal midi computer for arp/sequencing, chords etc similar to the bigger siblings. Hopefully with MIDI ports + CV, Gate and Clock for DAWless and hybrid applications. Yes, Poly AT would be expected on the MK2.

An MPE expression keyboard would also be nice alternative the M-series, maybe called X-series? Would not be surprised if at least there is one on the prototyping stage if not further along the production process.

Hope the new MK2 works better with the Push 3.

The screen will likely be small (but hopefully bigger). You are kinda expected to look at the laptop screen with mobile keyboards.

It is called M32 because it has 32 keys.
It is not some kind of code name…
Therefore, there can not be an M37….

Super8boy was talking about a 37-key version. Hence M37 :) 37 keys is a nice compromise between portability and the larger boards, loved my Novation one years ago.

I know it is not a random code name. When I said M37 I refered to an unreleased 37 key version of the expected MK2 version of an M-series keyboard. Obviously an M37 would be a new product which has not been released, but because there is popular Arturia Keystep with 37 keys it is not beyond the realm of possibility we may see an M37 this year. If not we may at least get an M32 MK2.

Possibly related (?) : Quote Matthew_NI , September 2023 : S25 is not coming later. Other key sizes larger than 25 but smaller than 49, with the same capabilities... might be...

Which of course does not exclude M-class keyboards either.

Likely the M32 MK2 (or a bigger M37), maybe both. Hope it has CV, Gate, Clock ports - makes sense on the M-series. Bluetooth MIDI and optional battery would be even nicer.
