Maschine 3.0(.1) Lag

I bought the new version 3 when it came out. I experienced extreme lag. Video is delayed so much. Mouse pointer is inresponsive, and I even can't identify which note being played by the locator is stuttering and off time also. Even on my Studio controller there's lag.. When monitoring samples while being in Browser sound is also delayed and same for story for the screens..

In Maschine 2 everything is right on time.

I had hopes for version 3.0.1 to solve this problem but it didn't

I now tried to activate Windows Ultimate Power Plan, which did not succeed.

So, I opened the Task Manager for further investigation. CPU and memory are having lots of overhead but my GPU is at a load of 100% !! My GPU isn't one of the highest qualified (GT730-4H-SL-2GD5), but it is one of the higher rated Silent GPU's out there and should be capable of running 4, 4k screens. I now only run one 4k screen and when opening Reason and Ableton I don't experience any problem at all. And for example, Maschine 2 is ocupying 10% of the GPU when playing.

Also noticable is that downgrading the resolution to HD (1920x1080) and Ultra HD (2550x1440) solves the problem. But that latest eats a lot of GPU.

Is there a reason for this high GPU tax in Maschine 3, or better said, can this be fixed in an update.

My rig is build with some larger fans to don't experience those high whinning noises, where GPU's are notorious for.

Thanks!

I did some more investigations. It is the 3d load that seems to be much too high.

See the taskmanager below. When the load drops I stopped Maschine 3. This was captured on a 2550x1440 resolution. It's quite obvious now why 4k resolution is giving so much trouble.

With.. 'stopped Maschine' I mean: stopped Maschine from playing, not close it.

given that maschine 2.x works well, stick with that till the fix comes out

you of course will be waiting like all the rest who are likely waiting for an update on the issue you experienced!

i have a tendancy to wait before doing any updates to maschine or any software& keep an eye out for people having issues… you obviously aint the first person to make mention of sluggish responses, and i suspect you wont be the last!

in any case, thanks for highlighting this

Hey, good to hear (or actually bad..) I am not alone with this. I actually couldn't find much about it, expect someone who solved it, but it was on a Mac maschine.. No experiences of lag for Windows as far as Google could find. I even thought it was because of my rig.. or some problem with the 14th intel processors..

To be honest, I really like the newer GUI font size, especially with a 4k screen. The high load on the Videocard was something I wasn't aware of till yesterday. After I posted my problem I decided to order an GTX3050 fanless videocard. Hopefully this GPU can handle the high GPU load and things will get better in the future..

Having the exact same issue too. Really disappointing considering how long we waited for this. I'm getting to a point where even I am considering abandoning Maschine as a DAW. Sad because I love it

Hey man.. yea.. it is really disappointing.

Don't know if you're able and willing to spend some money? Today my purchase to solve it (RTX3050 KalmX) came in.. and installing it solved the problem. But it's another €200 spend to be able to run an upgrade.. really redicioulus.. It should be fixed.. Maschine 2 never gave any issues.. neither do other DAWS

Thanks for letting me know man, I do have a really old graphics card aswell even though I have 64GB RAM. I just spent so much money recently upgrading everything else, Monitors, RAM, Audio interface smh. I guess I'm gonna have to get a Graphics card too. My poor bank account lol

Really appreciate the feedback bro & God bless you :)

So I got a new Graphics card NVIDIA T400 but still pretty glitchy. I've decided to actually go back to a proper DAW so am getting studio one. Will still use Maschine to make music but as fun as it is, its not ready to become a proper DAW. Blessing in disguise tbh, just with I hadn't bought Maschine 3.

Hopefully in the future they solve this GPU demanding behavior.. There simply weren't DAW's I could not run on my old GPU.. also opening VST's didn't gave any problems, except Maschine 3..

I once tested the onboard GPU of my old i7-7700t with 3 displays.. (4k monitor and 2 HD's) running Ableton 11. Great DAW btw..

Thats great to hear brother! Im glad its working well for you. For some reason now using Studio One it works great in Studio One. I'm actually thankful this happened & forced me to get a proper DAW aswell. Feels good to have delay compensation & be more surgical with my audio & midi processing :)

Mac mini M2 here, Maschine 2 works great, Maschine 3 glitches even pressing the caps lock key.

However, running as a VST, maschine 3 doesn't glitch.

both ways using the same audio settings

yep, seems to only happen when I open a vst for me as well. It's very unfortunate

Adding in my 2 cents and confirming that I too am experiencing this on Version 3.0.1. The whole interface is laggy, but it seems like the underlying music playback, etc are working, it's mostly the UI/UX that is laggy.

After I upgraded to a much more powerful GPU there's no glitches in Maschine 3 standalone.. but if I use it as a VST in a DAW, the locator is still not acurate and stuttering. The mousepointer is not showing any lag.. and my GPU is at 20% load. The behavior on the screen of the controller is stuttering the same.. Really disapointing..
