Firmware Issues

Just bought the Masterkeyboard new. Didn't get the keyboard fully installed with Cubase 13.0. Got the message from the keyboards display to update (the firmware). Update process was running more than 40 minutes before I decided to closed it. After that it shows now a installed Version 0.0.1

I followed the toubleshoot instruction with no results. Windows driver seems to be ok. The Keyboard only shows the message … Looks like something went wrong etc. and doesnt`show any reaction during a renewed udate process which I tried now several times in vain.
Any help?

I had this on an update. The update can take a LONG time, so don't close it while it's happening.

When mine went into the "Something went wrong" display I powered off, disconnected the kbd etc and left if a few minutes. Plugged it back in and got the same display but tried the update again. It worked ok, but the "something went wrong" message stayed on the display, and it took a long time before it came up with "complete". Not sure how long it took as I went to watch TV.

Either contact N.I. Hardware Support directly

Or check if anything from the troubleshooting pages helps :

    Kontrol S-Series MK3 Troubleshooting Guide

Kontrol S-Series MK3: Troubleshooting Firmware Update Issues

Then if nothing helps then contact N.I. Hardware Support .

Generally speaking though then the predominant N.I. device for the S-Series MK3 keyboard if having trouble with connection or FW update is to use a self powered USB-C hub between computer and keyboard or use a USB-C hub while attaching a USB-C PD power supply to the keyboard. And then see if that helps fix the problem.

    Reference : Quote Matthew_NI,Product Team, October 1 :

    Problem:

Some computer chip sets made between2020 and 2023 have a known USB-C error that can't be fixed. This can cause sporadic problems with USB-C peripherals like the Kontrol SMK3, including connection failures, freezing, or issues with firmware updates.

    Solution:

If you experience these issues, try using a USB-C hub between your Kontrol S MK3 and your computer. This can help avoid the problem and ensure a stable connection. This is critically important during firmware updates, as data loss could cause broken firmware. Make sure the hub supports both power and data transfer.
