Best way to add reverse function to Beat Loop module

Hi folks. I've been working on a loop player based on the Beat Loop module.
It does most of what I need it to do, but I'd like to add a reverse button to it, and I'm wondering how best to achieve this.
I tried adding one I found on a tutorial, and put it before the Beat Loop's output, but the trouble with that is that I cant engage the reverse while the beat loop is deactivated (i.e. can't turn it on already playing in reverse.) And it doesn't loop indefinitely in reverse either, it'll stop after a few rounds of the loop.
Also the Beat Loop's playhead doesn't follow the reverse direction. It remains going forward, which is only a minor issue, but still one I'd like to fix if possible.
Attached a screenshot of what I've got so far.
Anyway, any help would be most appreciated. Cheers!

IMHO it's easier to load a reverse sample.

If you use the new core developed beat looper it already has that built in.
