Firmware updater not recognizing Komplete Kontrol MK3 S88

Hi, my updater will not recognize the keyboard. I'm running an M3 Mac Air with Sequoia.

Loaded firmware is 0.6.0 (obviously I missed a few updates).

I've tried closing all apps, turning on / off the keyboard and computer, and updated all the software on the Mac. I've also tried using different adapters (this is USB A from the keyboard to USB C on the Mac)

Your help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Matt

I had not seen that but I read it and am trying it now. I'll post back on whether it worked or not. Thank you for the advice!

You are using USB-A to C? Please use USB-C to USB-C.

Also, for the S88, you may want to use a USB-C wall charger to provide additional power in the auxiliary power input on the back of the keyboard.

My MK3 has a USB B port on the device and my Mac takes USB C / thunderbolt. For my original post I had tried both using a USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect the cable to the Mac, and also tried connecting the MK3 USB A cable to a USB hub with USB C connection to the Mac. From the knowledge base I realize these are known issues.

I ordered a USB B to USB C cable and will try all the above advice and repost or contact support if issues persist. Thank you.

    Clarification:

I originally posted "this is USB A from the keyboard to USB C on the Mac"

My MK3 has a USB-B port on the device and came with a USB-B to USB-A cable.

    My 2024 M3 Mac takes USB C / thunderbolt.

For my original post I had tried both using a USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect the cable to the Mac, and also tried connecting the MK3 USB-A cable to a USB hub (100 W powered) with USB-C connection to the Mac.

I ordered a USB-B to USB-C cable and will try all the above advice and repost or contact support if issues persist. Thank you.

You appear to have succeeded in confusing people here. Your Keyboard appear to me as being a MK2 and not a MK3.

The Mk3 keyboard does not have an USB-B port it has an USB-C port , what has an USB-B port is the MK2 keyboard.

Also your initial post states that "Loaded firmware is 0.6.0 " which also sounds as a MK2 keyboard to me.

Please check what model of keyboard that you actually have. Does your keyboard have two screens next to each other (see MK2 picture below) or does it have one long screen (see MK3 picture below) ?

    MK2 :

    MK3 :

@mattatl It seems that @PoorFellow is right. I've checked your account and you only have a MK2 S88. You simply chose the wrong firmware updater, that is only working for MK3 keyboards and not MK2s.

This is the correct firmware updater: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/support/downloads/drivers-other-files/

@mattatl , with respect to what firmware that @Jeremy_NI is referring you to for your MK2 keyboard then you can ignore that for other than reference purposes since you already have the newest firmware on your MK2 keyboard. In fact then the MK2 firmware that Jeremy_NI refers you to is only version 0.59. The MK2 firmware version 0.6 that your keyboard has is only for the keyboards shipped from the factory with it and the 0.59 firmware version update is only for the MK2 keyboards that were shipped from the factory with an earlier firmware.

Wonderful, thanks to all for the explanation. I certainly wish I had confirmed my product before I started posting questions.

That said, my misguided question about the firmware was prompted by my MK2 not working with Logic Pro X. I had thought the firmware was the first place to start to resolve those issues.

I'll search the KB and post a separate thread if I can't get those issues sorted out.

    Thanks again.
