I'm not reading all of that because I think it's not worth time dragging this out further, I just want to respond to two snippets that stood out to me when I turbo-skimmed it (and a subsequent comment)…

    • Absynth can be replaced by multiple other synths and synth workstations on the market.

There is no point clinging to it. The only value it brings is being able to open old projects - since people should have moved on form it by now.

The same way they should be on the latest version of NA (the irony of that response is palpable).

    • This "tools vs. toys" argument is something you're inventing in your head.

This is like buying a car. You might buy one because you like shiny new designs, or you may buy one because it has amazing safety features.

Using Absynth 5 in 2024 is akin to driving a beat up box chevy with no safety features simply because you have some warped ideology that the only reason someone would buy a new car is because they're riding the wave of FADs.

It sounds - and is - stupid.

I'm a business. I operate like a business. Keeping out of support abandonware on my machine and polluting my projects with them is masochistic. It makes zero business sense.

The only people who think like you, are [ironically] the people who treat these applications like "toys."

    • No one gives two poops what the original author said. That's cope. He isn't maintaining and updating it, so the product is what it is and will remain so. That will not change, so I'm not sure why people keep bringing this up.
    • There is no point in debating this further because nothing will change. The status quo will not change. Your rationale for wanting to run ancient software and put those plug-ins in your sessions by any means necessary will not change. My view that it's masochistic and only creates more forum clutter when you people run here asking for others to help you fix the issues you have caused for yourself will not change.

    We're beating a dead horse.

    Bye.
