Mic very quiet

Hello,

After a few week long battles I have now managed to get my traktor s4 mk1 working seamlessly with Windows 11 and Traktor Pro 4 which is great.

The only issue I now have is the microphone being incredibly quiet, it's set up correctly and shows an output, however, I have to have the main (software) and level (hardware) turned up incredibly high to hear myself (Aux Gain and Mic Vol already at max). Unforunately this means that the music then plays much louder than I want given I'm in my home.

I have looked at many tips, videos and believe I've done everything correct and I'm now wandering whether the microphone is just a bit naff. It was a cheap one - Sanyo MP202.

I'm happy to invest in a much better one but essentially I'm looking for some reassurance that a expensive mic is likely to fix this problem and have a much louder output or am I missing something?

Just to follow up here, does anyone know if I got a mic preamp (Focusrite Vocaster for example) and routed mic in to amp then amp into live input channel D whether that is likely to work better or will the sound get compressed again through Traktor?
