The list of NI products (Kontakt etc) with Highres graphical interface / HighDPI / GUI scaling

Looking for a list which can be updated with all the current products that supports HighDPI / GUI scaling. Instruments as new as Kontakt 7 looks pixelated.

Curious to find out how many NI instruments supports HighDPI/ GUI Scaling. It does not say on the product pages.

Sidenote: Currently NI has no plans to update previously released Kontakt instruments to support GUI scaling (meaning it may take about a decade for the entire Komplete bundle to have GUI scaling)

We don’t have a list like that atm, but I’m taking notes. I've noticed people asking about this from time to time. If it would be helpful we could consider adding an article to the help page.

I have asked for this to be added to the support page with listed NKS2 supported products list and the MacOS compatability list. No response or engagement from NI, happy to hear someone is finally responding. Transparency would be great. I am currently not buying or supporting Komplete bundles with Kontakt instruments until I see improvements with GUI scaling, trying to hide this issue won't help.

I would suggest you update many of the current Kontakt instruments released, at least priority should be a selection of instruments released in the last 4-5 years, specifically product lines with long life cycles like traditional instruments, but I question why cheaper instruments like the Play series was not built to get future upgrades like GUI scaling. If not it may take a decade for all Kontakt instrument to support GUI scaling.

Arturia updates their synths in the V collection adding sequel numbers - for certain instruments in Kontakt with long life cycles this is obvious thing to do too, but NI does not plan for this. It should not be hard to release upgrades some could be paid (although I recommend a low fee if added features are low), some could be free for current owners. Same with the guitars, bass instruments. Just release Deluxe version, or add an X, SE or sequel number like Arturia. Do something!

The piano Claire looks really great but it sucks that Noire already looks old in comparison (these two are sibling instruments), not to mention Una Corda. Try to make certain product groups of instrument to have same life cycle even if it means the oldest may have to get a mid cycle upgrade. Upgrade Noire and Una Corda. Same thing with Alicia Keys, looks super old compared to her new instrument. Im starting to lose faith in purchasing product when they feel old only a couple of years later.

If this is too costly or messy for first party or third party developers to release life cycle upgrades to bring new life into them, maybe it is time to consider if Kontakt is a valid platform to release new products on.

Sidenote: Lots of cover titles on Kontakt 8 are lowres in browser and pretty ugly. I mean. You are selling expensive products but the UX make the products look like they are from the 90s. How hard can it be?

I have even read the new Claire instrument is lowres because someone chose to animate the instrument instead of having a static image or supporting more higher res animation when you go about 80-90+ percent in zoom. Just shaking my head.

The ones I know of are:

    Guitar Rig 7

    Replika XT

    Raum

    Crush and Mod FX

    Massive X

Kontakt 8 itself is but only some libraries - those using the new GUI framework - not sure which though

Yes, for some reason Native instruments are not revealing what products have the new GUI framework. Consumers cannot (sadly) read the NI devs minds.

I think it's still a work in progress, as is the Kontakt GUI - the editor for example is still the same pretty much as it was since maybe Kontakt 5? - just the actual modules and fx that have been updated but not the interface

My guess the backend editor will likely be updated mid cycle release 1-2 years or with the Kontakt 9 release 2-4 years. Kontakt 8 lacks a lot of frontend improvements. Currently it does not even have an updated Purge button (with midi support).

Kontakt GUI (sample player) and Kontakt Instruments GUI are different things. They may update the browser for GUI scaling, which they did with Kontakt 7, but non of the current older Kontakt instruments have this and are pixelated. When I talk about highres GUI / GUI scaling I am mostly thinking about Kontakt Instrument GUI scaling.

Currently the roadmap for Kontakt Instrument GUI updates and releases are very vague. Intitial comments from NI indicates none of the current instruments will be upgraded for GUI scaling, it will currently require a new product releases which 1st and 3rd party developers seem to not want to do. IMO a terrible situation. So it may take many years (maybe a decade) for the Komplete bundle to fully support GUI scaling for modern displays - so not knowing what products support high res GUI / GUI scaling is the reason why I started this thread.

“When I talk about highres GUI / GUI scaling I am mostly thinking about Kontakt Instrument GUI scaling”

Sure - for me though I really want the editing tools to be revamped and made scalable, ideally vectorised. The Kontakt editor is just so ancient and uninviting an interface.

I see Leap as an attempt to make a more accessible quick sampling environment in Kontakt and the Tools as ways of taking some of what could be achieved using the Script editor, out of that environment and again, making it more accessible. Both those things are good in that they get people using Kontakt as a sample construction tool again where that has been increasingly something mainly developers did as the sample library building tools become more advanced. However it also has a downside if it distracts NI from doing anything to actually address the inaccessibility of the sample building tools including Kontakt’s built in sample editor.

Still no list with supported Highres / GUI scaled instruments (no specification on resolution)
