Maschine MK3 Midi Script for Ableton as a Control Surface Not Working
Hello,
I installed the Maschine MK3 midi scripts from Native Instruments for use with Ableton 12. It shows up as an option for a Control Surface in Ableton, but nothing happens to my Maschine MK3 hardware. It has not automatically configured as a control surface as the instructions state. Any tips?

Have you tired pressing SHIFT+PLUG-IN?

Yes, I have. Still nothing.

Same here. "No instances connected" is displayed on the Maschine.

@natemercury I just bought the maschine last week, so I'm still learning.
But I've been messing with it for hours trying to get it to work and finally managed something.
In another thread regarding the Ableton 12.1 control scripts the link below was posted by one of the NI-guys.
I just copied ALL of them in the "Ableton - MIDI Remote Scripts" folder and the "Ableton Live" instance is now loaded on my maschine. I'm not sure why this worked?
I'm not completely sure "what" is supposed to be working though.
I can control volume faders/mute/etc. Start/Stop/play/record…
But the pads don't seem to be doing anything, so I think I'm not completely there yet?
In basic MIDI mode the pads do work. But I would assume the Ableton instance should also have this functionality?2 -
Not sure which controller you're talking about but thats "DAW Control", in that Mode the Pads (oddly) don't do anything… You basically get a mixer controls with cool feedback and transport only. If you read that thread I've explained this… Theres also a cheat sheet for it in the Maschine Download Section:

thank you for this. I'll try it out. But this sounds like what I need - I had it working like this before. Hopefully this will fix it!

Same thing here. I hope NI solve the problem. I'm not comfortable downloading scripts from an unknown server.

This worked* However. I noticed that Ableton's GUI gets really laggy with the scripts installed. I've since just kept it uninstalled for now to get rid of the laggyness in Ableton.

Yes, I had the same thought, but tried it anyway. I noticed they named the folder differently in this one and wondered if it that could be the reason the "original" script didn't work. So I tried that one again, but renamed the folder to just Machine_MK3 and now it does load. Don't know if this was the fix, but worth a try.

I works!
But its really sad, that in 2016 you can control a lot of things of Ableton Live from Maschine (
) and now only the most basic things.Native Instruments drop the ball here.
Hope someone of NI read this.

Thank you for this link; it's working on mine, too However, it's so frustrating that there is not more functionality like in the past…

You are right..! The script is bugged.
I initially didn't notice this, but last weekend when I was playing on a track I noticed that everything got really laggy after a while. After initial startup it is somewhat ok but it gets a lot worse over time. (like a memory leak or something). At first, I thought my cpu was overheating.
It took me a while to find the reason of the laggy behaviour, since I installed a few updated chipset and gpu drivers in the meantime which I wrongfully assumed to be the culprit.
Suddenly I remembered your comment on the script, removed it, é voila, everything went back to normal. If you hadn't mentioned it, it would have taken me a long time to find it!! So thanks!
Since my S88 mk3 has these DAW-functions already, the script is almost useless for my needs and will be removed until "fixed".
I hope someone of NI is taking note of this "bug" and/or is working on a improved script with the addition of drumpad functionality and more!
Such a nice piece of hardware deserves the same high quality DAW/Ableton-integration!
Come on NI, make it happen!!! All the pieces of the puzzle are already there.
I bought my S88 keyboard a few months ago and it has been a really nice experience!
I REALLY love the thing and the way I can use it in Abelton is just as I would expect.
Load Kontakt or KK on a track and start playing, everything you play is visible in Ableton.
Press the DAW or MIDI button if needed, and it all works as it should.
I bought the Maschine just a few weeks ago, expecting more of the same.
(As in, load Maschine instead of Kontakt/KK on a track and start playing).
The experience of combining it with Ableton has been less magical unfortunately…
After a lot off manual routing of channels, groups, audio etc. to be able to arrange in Ableton using the Maschine as a sampler is cumbersome but it gave me a way I can almost use it the way I want.
It should be more plug and play though, imo.1 -
Well… This thread started with one thing and now it's another, hard to get attention that way.
Describe this Lag issue, does it always happen? Does it take long? Does it require the HW to be connected to happen? Are you following the instructions here:

Hey there aall,
I been experiencing the same issue, downloaded latest scripts for Ableton Live 12 for my MK3 and is not appearing in the control surface, any idea why? already closed app and repeated the process of copying and pasting the folders and opening Ableton and still not appearing, just in the input and outpout sections.
