Is Anyone else having Traktor ASIO CPU Issues (Kontrol S8) ?
Hi Traktor community !
I have been having issues with the Traktor Kontrol S8 ASIO Driver for the last month or so.
I have not installed anything new apart from some windows updates.
I thought the issue might have been with a windows update so I uninstalled the recent updates (since mid-October) and restarted my computer. I also removed all the audio drivers I do not need (for hardware I don't have).
I tested the driver in Ableton Live and the issue with the driver is similar.. even when playing a wav file, the CPU spikes way too much and the sound is distorted.
Also, I opened up Traktor 3 which is still installed on my PC (I never had an issue with that before installing Traktor 4) but now the S8 asio driver has the same spikes as in Traktor 4.
Finally, I tried making some space on my c: as it was in the red.. I'm now in the blue with 59.7gb free of 461 gb.
Luckily, I am still able to use the other driver for Kontrol S8 (WDM Audio shared WASAPI Shared) but the buffer size is larger 480 compared to 32 with ASIO and the latency is 20.0 ms and not 7.1 ms so it is very laggy.
I can feel the difference when using the Phase DJ controller.
I'm not sure why the ASIO driver is causing issues or how to fix it. I suspect it requires an update for Windows 11?
I am using the latest version of Traktor 4.1.0
Is anyone else having or have had this issue?
Thanks for your help :)
Tom

Hey there we typically recommend a buffer of 128 as a minimum for the ASIO driver for Traktor. Can you reproduce the issue with the ASIO driver set to 128? 256?

Hello,
I also have an S8 which ran very well until September. and I also encountered problems with CPU spikes and distorted sound.
I had to take an old version of a TSI file to stop the problem (in the middle of a wedding!! very stressful!).
I thought it was due to the USB port, or its performance...as my computer was old and I'd worked well this year, I bought a new PC.i chose a high-performance laptop ( AMD Ryzen7 - 3.2Gh, 32Go Ram, SSD ddr5,...) i just installed traktor pro3, imported my colelction. and reconfigured everything as if it was brand new. everything worked fine, until i connected the Kontrol S8. after not even 15 minutes of mixing, sound distortion!!!!
i go to the S8 settings and here's the message: “this computer is most likely not suitable for realtime audio”!!!!so I took my TSI file from my old pc (a working version) and imported it... it was almost worse!
I went through everything: S8 driver (nothing new since 2015!), firmware 80, sampler size, buffer, power option,...
for the moment it's unstable... sometimes I mix 2 hours without a problem and sometimes after 20 minutes it's ruined.
Any idea ?
Thks
Bruno
