Kontakt Direct Control with Kontrol s61 MK3

Hi! I understood i can now control Kontakt directly with my S61 MK3 keyb instead of having to use Komplete Kontrol for this. The problem is that every time i open a Kontakt instance, i have to go to file → controller → select "kontrol s61 mk3" as the controller - only then it displays the instrument controls on the controller display. When i change the kontakt instrument channel and come back, i need to do this again, otherwise it just displays "Default MIDI Template". Is there a way for the controller to stay there as default? It works correctly when i open the standalone version of Kontakt 7 but not when running it as a plugin in Cubase 13.

    Are you selecting the track in Cubase, Or opening the plugin directly from the mixer? I'm sure the track has to be selected for the controller to link to the correct plugin instances.

    Also, is the Komplete Kontrol integration running ok with Cubase? If the mixer functionality is working fine on your Mk3 then it is.

    It's this integration that tracks which track/plugin instance that you're focused on within the DAW.

    There's also been a recent Cubase update within past few weeks, are you running that or an older version do you know?

    I'm selecting the track in Cubase. The mixer control is working as expected. Adding a Komplete Kontrol instance works as expected and displays the browser on the device screen when the track is selected but it doesn't work on Kontakt 7 instances. I'm running the latest Cubase (13.0.50). Funnily when loading the project and it scans through the Kontakt tracks, it displays the images & controls of the Kontakt instances on the S61 screen when loading that specific track, but when the project is opened, they don't sync to the screen / device when the track is selected but i have to select the s61 mk3 controller from the Kontakt instance for the direct control to be active 💁‍♂️

    I have the same issue, but with the difference that Kontakt standalone is crashing and rebooting the whole system (Sequoia 15.2 on M2 Ultra) everytime I select my s61 mk3 in the midi tab. Komplete Kontrol works just fine in Cubase 14 Pro, all the functions are available on my S61. But when opening the same instrument in Kontakt, my S61 doesn't show the functions on its display and doesn't assign functions to the knobs. The above explained autofocus reset doesn't work: in Komplete Kontrol it was set to default with NIKB00 placed on knob 1 already, but in Kontakt there is no "NIKBxx" assignable to knob 1 and if i reset to default settings, "dynamics" is assigned to knob 1.

    What to do now? A few days ago Kontakt worked just fine with all the plug-ins and with my S61, and now it just gives me the "Default MIDI Template" when using Kontakt in Cubase.

    If you experience these issues, try using a USB-C hub between your Kontrol S MK3 and your computer. This can help avoid the problem and ensure a stable connection. This is critically important during firmware updates, as data loss could cause broken firmware. Make sure the hub supports both power and data transfer.
