Maschine Mk1 Hardware

With Halloween approaching, I wonder whether my Maschine Mk1 should join the grave next to my Kore and GuitarRig original hardware … Given that in roughly a week, the support for my old Maschine will cease, I was thinking of upgrading the software to Mk2 so that I get at least for a while something out of this enormous paperweight. However, charging 99€ for the Machine 2 upgrade is not very appropriate at this point. Please consider making the update free as a gesture, at least towards those who are left behind for the time being.

Thank you.

The Maschine Mk1 will run the Maschine 2 software. If you don't change anything in your current set up (ie computer, operating system, DAW etc) your Mk1 should work as it currently does.

The main issue I have found with my MK1 is that as it is not class compliant it is not recognised by newer Mac system software (so the computer doesn't even see it as a useless midi device). And that's why it's joined the hardware that should still work like Guitar Rig in the bin.

It's annoying and upsetting that NI neither support their older product ranges (12 years is not a long time for a musical device's lifespan) nor do they offer their existing users a discounted upgrade/recycling path. Instead you're treated like some random they've never met and charged full price again.

MK1 MacOS support officially ended long ago, in Catalina 10.15… thats like 5 versions ago, theres some tricks for newer versions tho.

End of support doesn't mean the HW will explode and stop working… If it works now in your current setup is will continue working like Lionzinio said. It will only not work if you want the upcoming v3 software or if you upgrade MacOS to an unsupported version.

Why would you need a "Machine 2 upgrade" SW upgrade to use an Mk2? You're on Ventura right? You can't be using Maschine SW V1 so you already have V2, right? Mk1 and Mk2 controllers use the same V2 software.

Also, if you buy an Mk2 you should get another license of Maschine 2, just make sure the seller is legit and selling with software.

None of NI's Maschine controllers are class-compliant, they all need drivers.
