Official News for Traktor Pro 4

Found it today in the official (Q4) NI News from the CPO:

What’s coming next?

Traktor

We dropped Traktor Pro 4 back in July and we’ve been really pleased with the response. The team worked very hard to make this a meaningful update. Beyond the big features like stem separation and flexible beatgrids, even additions like the Pattern Player are really significant for expanding creativity in live performance. Right now the team is already starting to plan out the next areas of focus. These will likely be updates to help DJs discover new content, manage their library, prepare for performance, and play with an even wider range of setups.

The team have also been working away on some new modular Traktor hardware to be announced in the next couple of weeks. Without revealing too much at this stage, it’s the first hardware to be designed specifically for Traktor Pro 4 software and there’s plenty of fresh features on board. Stay tuned.

All of this is very interesting and there is a lot to read between the lines. So what we can expect soon is new hardware, which is always great anyway, and then soon long-awaited new features for the software. Nice!

Sounds exciting. As they are writing of modular hardware, my mind thinks of a new F1 Mk2 and/or Z1 Mk2 in size and design language of X1 Mk3. Or maybe something completely new.

I'm curious what they mean with: "and play with an even wider range of setups". I hope for more 3rd party hardware integration.

My hope for Tidal integration is also still alive: "to help DJs discover new content".

I hope that we'll get an entirely new piece of hardware that's not just a facelift of F1 and Z1. As good as those pieces of kit are, I think Traktor hardware (and DJ hardware in general) needs more options similar to Denons LC6000 controllers.

"needs more options similar to Denons LC6000 controllers"

This is what I'm hoping for too!

That's great but did I miss any TP4 updates in the meantime? Last I checked there are still significant bugs with the remix decks functionality in TP4.....I'm using 4.0.2

There were no updates since 4.0.2. I'm guessing they'll push an update when they release the new hardware.

This is really interesting 🧐 news 📰 indeed. I guess this should give users a general idea has to what the future of Traktor Pro will be and the plans that NI have for future updates. What’s also interesting is the line that says it will be the first hardware built for TP4. I thought that the new X1 was the first. My guess is a modular version of the S8. Decks, Mixer 4ch, Remix decks/Pattern player sampler.

I'd like to see NI release discreet modular decks, like one complete deck section of the s4, so we could simply use two of those to turn any s3/s4 into a fully discreet 4 channel setup. These would also be great with the z2 or a new 4 channel z4? For a completely modular setup.

This always seemed like a no brainer to me, but they've never given it a shot, I've got my fingers crossed they're thinking along these lines.

Of course the whole mark 3 lineup is in need of updating too, but I've got a feeling that will start next year with an s4mk4 followed by an s2mk4. And to be fair the mk3 generation is still pretty solid, I'm not exactly itching for an upgrade for my s3, it still serves me well and definitely benefited from the pro 4 update.

is an Update coming for adding the flex grids automatically like Algoriddim Djay Pro does?? Adding them for all my Funk & Soul libraries by hand, life is to short..

Btw Traktor still has problems recognizing beat grids for types of music such as hip hop, funk etc (as long as it is not electro/techno or similar). The tracks almost need to be reworked. That's annoying! I tried DJay Pro AI. I didn't have to improve a single song there (!)

Isn't it possible to write a script that detects the peaks in the wave form and puts a grid on it, dear Native Instrument team?

@tobby digg You asked that at another place already. The answer is: Most likely not. At least not yet. If there will be automatic flexible gridding with a later version: Only some guys at NI will know that right now - if at all.

Perhaps one of the new products will be a replacement for the Kontrol S8, which just two days ago turned 10 years old?
