Brutal crashes PT 2024.6 Sonoma 14.7
I am experiencing significant crashes when using Kontakt 7.9 in Protools 2024.6 Sonoma 14.7 M3 Max 36 GB RAM. Out of nowhere PT will just completely crash usually when editing a kontakt instrument or the midi itself
I reached out to Avid and went through their entire process of what they recommend to fix. Still happening. So I am reaching out here. Is it advised to downgrade my Kontakt version? Computer shipped with Sonoma so I can’t revert OS.
Any help would be much appreciated. System runs incredibly well until it just crashes. Very frustrating and slowing me down on an otherwise perfect set up.
Thank you all.

I’ve had similar crashes using Kontakt in Pro Tools, and it’s frustrating! A few things that worked for me:
Try Downgrading Kontakt:
Returning to an earlier, stable version can help, as some versions have compatibility issues with the newest OS.Adjust Pro Tools Settings
:
Sometimes, increasing your buffer size to around 512 samples and setting the CPU usage limit to about 85% can stabilize things. This is in Setup > Playback Engine.Run Kontakt in Standalone First
:
Launch Kontakt in standalone mode before opening Pro Tools. This can improve stability when loading it in your DAW.
I hope one of these helps! If not, hopefully, Native Instruments support can provide further guidance.

thank you for your suggestions!
When you say downgrade Kontakt, are you meaning something like roll back 7.9 or 7.6? Or a truly previous version such as Kontakt 6.
The other options you mentioned I unfortunately already tried with no success :(0
