Traktor2 Mk2 headphone socket fault

The headphone socket on my old Traktor2 Mk2 has developed a fault which has steadily got worse. At first, the stereo split would occasionally drop on one side which was a bit of a nuisance, but by wiggling the headphone jack the stereo sound would return to normal. However, it's got to the point where it's almost impossible to hear any music in my headphones, and wiggling makes no difference. I'm assuming the socket itself is failing. Is this a repairable fault? Everything else on the controller is fine.

Sounds like loose contacts. The sockets of the Mk2 are ******, just loose enough to break the cheap connections easily. I have affixed some custom support to the outside as a frame where i can use a clip to the cable to keep it from moving around. Hopefully it will hold a few more years. I am already considering to buy something solid to replace it.

Otherwise, it's a good piece of kit. If you are the DIY person, you may want to open up the box and see if you can solder the failing contacts and apply some extra support, after it fails you completely of course… ;)

Edit: If you do go this course, please make a lot of photos of the insides and the progress. I am sure we are not the only ones who may want to do this, and a progress report might provide some sort of instructions on repairing it.

You could also ask what NI would ask moneywise if you sent it to one of their workshops.
