mk3 buttons + recording to daw

sorry guys, im new at mk3, and confused need help,

should i just need to use it with maschine desktop app to be able to use play, record, stop etc. controls? (without going into midi mode) 

and also im wondering that if i use mk3 with maschine app (not vst), when i move to daw to record, how will be able to record also as midi without going to midi mode? 

if just wav by line out, i wont be able to edit records then. should i arrange and save my work as a new project to maschine software and then drag it into logic as midi, by choosing presaved project in maschine library by in vst in logic?

i guess its not like recording a midi keyboard just direclty into logic's timeline..
