sorry guys, im new at mk3, and confused need help,

should i just need to use it with maschine desktop app to be able to use play, record, stop etc. controls? (without going into midi mode)

and also im wondering that if i use mk3 with maschine app (not vst), when i move to daw to record, how will be able to record also as midi without going to midi mode?

if just wav by line out, i wont be able to edit records then. should i arrange and save my work as a new project to maschine software and then drag it into logic as midi, by choosing presaved project in maschine library by in vst in logic?

i guess its not like recording a midi keyboard just direclty into logic's timeline..

No, it is a pretty good work flow stand alone or VST.

Stand alone everything should be as it is mapped on the hardware.

as a VST, I personally have a template that sends MIDI info to logic, by pressing Shift + Channel/MIDI on the MK3 hardware I am able to jump between controlling maschine VST and logic and the auto-mapped logic version (the one with the mixer).

However if nothing changed to be able to send midi to logic you need to make a template on controller editor app I like the video I used to make my template.

You do this by enabling "Host Transport Control" in Controller Editor, then the transport section of the controller no longer controls the Maschine-Plugin but rather just sends MIDI Data which can be used by the DAW for transport.

You will also need to MIDI Map the DAW or load a template, MCU/Mackie templates for both the DAW and Controller Editor are the easiest way to get it done, NI has support articles for some DAWS.

    For Logic read this: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/209582749-Setting-up-Your-Maschine-Controller-for-Host-Transport-Control-in-Logic-Pro

You can route the MIDI Out of a Pad/Group directly to another app (DAW) using the virtual MIDI Port. Logic actually has it's own 'Virtual MIDI-In' port when it's open which make things easy:

Extra MIDI configuration might be required depending on what you want to control.

There's usually no need for a duplicate project. You can just load the MAS-Plug in your DAW then load your MAS project there, when you save in Logic the MAS-Plug is saved inside only, if you make many changes then yes, it's safer to also save from MAS to a new project.

You can't just drop MIDI and expect MAS-Plug to know which DAW-MIDI track should control what, that needs carefull setup, unless it's just one Group then it's easy just use the DAW MAS-Plug track itself but…

Logic is the worst DAW to attempt to have different tracks sending MIDI to different PADS/Groups because AUv2 plugs cant receive/send MIDI to/from other tracks.

Even in MIDI Mode Maschine controllers are not MIDI-Class Compliant (plug & play), it needs drivers, since theres no way to install drivers on an iPad it will not work. The same way it wont work if you connect it directly to a HW Synth, or to Linux, or anythign else other than a Mac/Windows computer with drivers installed and Controller Editor (templates are only on the computer, they aren't saved inside the device since it has no disk/memory at all)

I think your confusing it with the other way around:

An iPad itself can act as a MIDI Controller with appropriate cables to send MIDI to the computer, and thus the Maschine software or any other software on that computer, so people might say and iPad can connect to an MAS-MK3 even tho thats really the wrong way of wording it since the MAS controller itself is irrelevant in this configuration.

if im not in midi mode (even mackie is setted) record button works just for maschine vst, not for logic to start record..

If you take a look at Controller Editor when you enable Host Transport Control you will see that the Record button is not highlighted in green, only the other 5 buttons, that means it remains tied to Maschine.

NI decided this was a good ideia, people have asked millions of times for adding the Record button or to have more Host Transport options, so far to no avail.

You can MIDI map another button (of those 5) to control DAW Record but then you will be fighting your own muscle memory. 🤷‍♂️

    thanks alot for all 🙏🏻

one more question to go, i searched the forums but everyone says its impossible to connect mk3 to ipad pro as a midi device. but some says you need a camera connector hub, adding a power cable on it, it makes it run but etc.. but maschine doesnt allow me to go to midi mode, just screens are on and its like dead. also some says its just because of power is not enough, may be i thought to buy extra power adapter to plug in seperately then usb b cable... maschine needs software i know but even at imac when i start without software open, it still allows me to run into midi mode without opening controller editor. thx

also i checked the videos and did all the settings,

if im not in midi mode (even mackie is setted) record button works just for maschine vst, not for logic to start record..

and also comparing to maschine desktop software "shift+ record" was allowing metronome and restart button etc was easier. on daw vst new commands are making them pretend to help to logic just as a controller but on software they are really much more usefull for me thinking now, but this is just that little experienced idea of mine. (trying to find which way will be easier to me)

still couldnt make sure if i must use midi mode with vst or make it midi controller for logic, or just creating a project without daw, saving it, then moving to daw. may be i edit on software or at vst and just play it behind the song.. but also sometimes we are using off timed beat or samples at any time of the song, those timelines are too sharp, may be will take out song to midi track, use vst at the end, will try and learn..

i was using xo by xln audio and superior drummer etc, now thinking how can i manage song beats. because my band's songs are not dj or beat sets, and mostly we need intros, bridges or just shakers or just specific sounds sometimes, i guess i have to use maschine's timeline for all those and that makes me deciding everything first and then locate everthing by hand or by playing.. maschine is like a machine that should play all the time as a project, doesnt see to be many tracks those are created like 1) shaker 2)beat 3)some samples.. will try to manage, distort and flex time schedules, managing by hand to anywhere i want if possible
