S3 cross fader
HI all, bought an S3 plugged it all in started having a mix noticed that the cross fader seems to be funky, first 10% on the right will move it to 50% then it moves slowly to the left out of sync with position, when I move it to the right it does not get over to the right till I hit the last 10% then it jumps from left to the right side, played with the smooth and sharp settings doesnt seem to change it, it does not seem to have any calibration options.
Anything I can do, wish my audio 8 would work with my new mac but its a legacy device, still works perfect with my old mid 2012 mbp, bit fed up with Native if im honest was the best software years ago now im starting to wonder…..
Thanks for your help

You probably need to clean the xfader with an airgun to loosen dirt that interferes with the contacts.

On a brand new unit? that doesn't sound like i'm off to a good start, took it our the box about 3 hours ago

Well, worth a try, right? Could also be a faulty fader unit. In that case make use of your warranty.

Think I'll send it back and look at a different manufacturer my 17 year old vci 100 still works perfect even after 10 years of 3x a week gigs 😂

Sometimes it's just luck. I have two F1's of the very first generation still doing their duty flawlessly, despite being knocked around a lot. If you have a piece from a bad batch, which happens with products with low-cost-towards-profit designs, just return it for a working unit. They can refurbish your piece and sell it for a 100 buck discount. It's a business strategy you should not be surprised about.
Edit: nice you got a VCI. If i had one sitting here, i would probably put it on a stand just for show! :p
Did you DIY your piece?
Edit2: My MF-Twister is due to arrive tomorrow. Took me years to finally get one.

The only mod I did was to swap to black rubber knobs and faders, think I might just try find a sound card and go back to using the vci, so annoyed that my audio 8 and my knotrol audio 1 is not supported on my new macbook air they were perfect, would you know if the audio 6 would work with the vci? Or another sound card I'm only doing it as a hobby now I hung uo my headphones 10 years ago

Seems you got money to spend at the moment, but you may well be served by taking a step back. Take a few days to assess your options. The money won't disappear in the meantime. :)

Good idea I'll fire up the old mid 2012 one and use that till I can work out a set up

Awesome. Present your choices when you found something nice. My guess is that anything you come up with, someone around here has some experience with it.
