How do I filter Komplete Kontrol by plug-in?

This is the core functionality of Komplete Kontrol, yes? To take all your plugins and make them easily searchable in one place?

So how do I filter by plugin? for instance Kontakt 7. I only want to see my Kontakt 7 Libraries in my browser (since my kontakt 7 library won't even show up in its own plugin)

This description is very confusing. Komplete Kontrol has a feature that allows you to filter results in various ways such as by vendor or by classification such as brand, sound type or character (of the sound like additive, granular etc). You also have a search bar, but none of those are related to the underlying technical infrastructure such as NKS2 for example. The current versions of Kontakt 7 and Komplete Kontrol are the same libraries. The question if whether you're dealing with NKS2 or NKS1 libraries.

If you are on the latest versions of Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol those all deal with ONLY NKS2 and that's where they get the descriptive information and may be why your libraries don't show up in Kontakt 7. If you have older NKS1 type instruments you could upgrade them to NKS2 (if they're available) or use an older version of Kontakt to work with older NKS instruments.

I don't know if that's what you're asking here or not. Sorry if I'm not getting it, but it's kind of confusing in the way it's stated.

You filter by plugin by selecting that plugin in the browser- then you can search just within the subset of patches for that plugin

I did try that first. I loaded Kontakt (in the only place in the browser I could find the plugin), and it does not filter anything, as you can see Battery is listed below (not a Kontakt library)

Komplete kontrol has multiple plugins, each with their own libraries and preset banks.

I want to know how to show ONLY the libraries and plugins of 1 plugin, namely Kontakt 7. That effectively means filtering out everything except for that. The filter is based on the plugin.

No I said select Kontakt, not load. That brings up a reduced list of the Kontakt libraries. First you might also want to select Native Instruments under 'Brands' to narrow it down and then you can find Kontakt, or any of the other Kontakt based products like Ashlight all in one place

@kymeia I appreciate you're trying to help me solve this. I think you may be confusing Libraries for plugin. I did select the kontakt box like your screenshot, but that is not the kontakt plugin, that is the kontakt factory library, and it does not affect any of the other 'library boxes', as you can see in my screenshot. Battery 4 is still there which is not a Kontakt related library.

Yes but the search results list on the right is filtered down just to the Kontakt library (while the icons are filtered by brand). KK focuses on sounds not plugins per se but you can still reduce the search list by selecting the icons (which may be plugins or libraries actually - in KK the difference between the 2 is fuzzy because as I said the focus is on sounds). In the case of Kontakt it is complicated by many Kontakt libraries being treated as separate products, so it’s not the best example, but on the whole this method will allow you to filter by plugin as in most cases if you select the icon for a plugin eg Battery or Massive X you will just get a list of all content for that plugin (which addresses the question in your title). It's just you chose one example of a plugin that does things a bit differently to the majority.

Well unfortunately I am forced to micromanage the library/plugin distinction like this because all the other plugins are nonfunctional when it comes to their own libraries (kontakt 7) or creating a preset in Logic Pro (battery). It seems the difference is negligible to you, which is why you are using the words library and plugin interchangeably, but this is not the case, especially when trying to integrate one's products into a DAW. the distinction certainly matters especially in cases of large plugin and sound libraries and working within other structures such as Ableton or Logic.

Now I tried with Massive X, as per your example, and now I am seeing all of Massive X's libraries in the right hand drop down menu ('Bank'). It did not filter out anything else on the left hand side.

So NI puts in Kontakt Libraries outside of the Kontakt plugin and in their own rectangular boxes, but does not with Massive. If NIs software wasn't a lazy, unprofessional, literally half done, mess, I would just chalk this up to a design preference or quirk. But since I'm here cause I literally can't get any sort of organizational scheme to work without running into a bug or crash in their apps, it's just another inconsistency in their plugin organization. Pretty stupid for a plugin who's whole thing is supposed to be plugin and library management.

Well no it's not meant to, it's the right hand side that is the search results, although 'Brand', 'Sound Type' and 'Character' also enable you to narrow down the selection of icons in the browser to help whittle results down to the list on the right

In Komplete Kontrol library and plugin are used interchangeably - that is obvious just from the fact that Kontakt libraries apart from the factory library are dotted about under their own icons, not just under the Kontakt plugin icon, but plugin banks are usually all located under each plugin icon (with the exception of AAS plugins which also do what Kontakt does and have each bank under its own product icon). So some icons represent libraries and others represent plugins.

Look I do realise it's not fitting your idea of organisation and it is also fine if you want to make suggestions for improvements, it's not perfect and there are some things I would like improved for sure. Personally I do not like that the new KK3 browser no longer includes category tags and I don't really care about Brands tbh. I also preferred a side pane/plugin split rather than a modal window where you switch between the 2 views. It would also be good to be able to search across factor and User content in one go.

However this method of organisation works well enough for many of us who have used this for years to find it useful. Organisation in Komplete Kontrol (like Kore before it) is more focused on sounds not plugins. So searching is based on sound attributes. In most cases though, to answer your original question you can filter by plugin, with a few exceptions, Kontakt being the main one.
