Can anyone tell me what the hell is happening with the 'new and improved' update system over there at NI? I absolutely DREAD seeing updates available since you switched over to whatever this new system is where every update seems to want to redownload GBs and GBs of data. I updated omnia last week - 75GB, not amused. Today theres another update and again its downloading 75GB. You cant do this to customers, its completely out of order. What happened to the old method where these minute updates took seconds and consisted of a few MB?

Now if these updates are NOT downloading the full library again, why are they taking close to 2 hours for a single small point update every time? I'm running full SSDs on a mac studio with a GB internet connection. This is absolutely pitiful.

Two hours? Mine's just taken 3 minutes, but I'm on a PC. 😁

It doesn't download the whole update, it just looks like it is. I think it scans through the existing files and inserts the updated items, and that's what the progress bar is showing you.

I thought the same thing when mine updated yesterday, but I was on a 20mb connection and it was ticking through far far quicker and I could see the internet activity clicking in and out on my router. Took 10 mins maximum, whereas a 75GB update would take about half a day! :)

A bit of a strange label to have it saying 'downloading…' the whole way through the update then? Either way, examples like the two Omnia updates are taking way over an hour. They've been like this for things like kontakt libraries since they switched over the update system. I was hoping it was a 'first time only thing', because I read something about that on here, but obviously not. Any ideas, NI staff?

@PK The DJ Your Omnia update took 3 minutes?

Yes, three minutes. When I first clicked, it gave me an estimated time of an hour, but quickly reduced down. The progress bar was a little jerky/stuttery but I timed it on my phone - 3m11s.

Maybe not everyone is experiencing the same problems, but there’s definitely something wrong with Omnia packages and/or process (at least on Mac).
