I got a new mac m3 and paid for maschine 2 only to see my mk1 turn into a paper weight. Is there any work around to get this wonderful piece of equipment to work with new computers ?

I may be wrong but I dont think the mk1 is supported anymore, with the last couple of versions of MacOs.

    Correct, it does not: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014683497-Apple-Silicon-Compatibility-News

Unfortunately, new Mac's and old hardware from 2009 don't mix well… Especially with M processors.

You should had just bought a used Maschine MK2 with proper license transfer, sometimes they are sold for as low as 50-60$, less then the cost of the v2 software by itself.

I'd kindly explain tech support the situation and ask for refund if your SW purchase was recent and use the money to get a used MK2, you just need to be carefull as sometimes buyers get ghosted when its time to transfer the SW license.
