Patterns/scenes changing at the end of a bar.

Why is it after all this time Maschine will not wait and switch to the next pattern or scene at the beginning of the next pattern or scene at the end of the currently playing bar? It's so infuriating in that it requires perfect timing to avoid notes being cut off early from the currently playing pattern/scene or midi notes/samples not playing in the next pattern/scene because you switched slightly late or slightly early. It makes consistency in live performance next to impossible.

Why if I follow a 4 bar pattern with an 8 bar pattern does the 8 bar pattern start from bar 5 and not from the beginning on bar 1?

Are these issues connected?

I know this has been talked about many times and requested in future updates for as long as Maschine has existed but it still hasn't been addressed. Is there a good reason why this seems to fall on deaf ears?

Forgive me if I've missed a response to this previously.

Because theres several options on what to do when a new Scene/Section is triggered, you have to tell it what you want:

    Yes.

If I understood you correctly than that's simply untrue, since this is a feature since for ever.

AFAIK there’s a difference between switching Patterns and Scenes. Pattern always switch instantaneously, while Scenes follow the settings shown above.

I quite enjoy the instantaneous Pattern changes for improvisation. But having long Patterns of different lengths can be confusing indeed.

Primarily I'm talking more about patterns than scenes, I wasn't aware that scenes are handled differently. Those settings don't make any difference to when patterns change when switching between them. I'm also an Ableton Live user and clips will wait until the currently playing measure in a bar ends before switching to a new clip. Why can't Maschine do this?

Oh, thats on me. I was referring only to Scenes or Sections, I should had been more clear!

Patterns have no options for sync at all, as to "why" we can only guess.

    • Positive - you could say Ideas is meant to experiment with Patterns combinations to come up with potential new Scenes/Section and not to actually perform real-time.
    • Cynical - you can say that "Ideas View" was released and never finished or polished, just like 'Clips', 'Audio Plug' and many other Maschine features… It's rushed out then it's on to the next thing.

Nearly every SW i've tried that has a similar grid loop mix-match mode being Live's 'Session View', Bitwigs 'Clip Launcher' or even the more recent Logic's ´Live Loops´ have sync options. 🤷‍♂️

Adding to this, it should be super important have a grid Sync to perform live with patterns.

I always work with Patterns for live performing, creating Scenes feels too cumbersome for me, as it adds an extra layer of complexity on something that should be simple to play, like an instrument. I find Scenes to work only for a very fixed set.

Has any of you found a good workflow with Scenes? Suggestions and ideas are welcome
