TP4 update from TP3

Hi,

So, I own a sencond hand S4 Mk3 and I want to update to TP4, but I've got some questions :

• Does owning hardware entitle me to free upgrade (since new hardware ships with TP4 licence) ?
• If I buy the TP3 to TP4 update, does it give me a standalone licence key or is it hard-linked to my hardware as is TP3 ?

I find the linked Software hardware very cool, but a bit confusing when it comes to upgrade haha.

No, owning a S4 Mk3 doesn't entitle you to a free upgrade. S4 Mk3 is sold since 2018 if I remember that right. You got a licence of Traktor Pro 3 with it until the release of Traktor Pro 4, after that you should get a licence of Traktor Pro 4. In some cases (bought short before TP4 release or just registered after TP4 release) you can have luck and get TP4 even if bought before TP4 release but that's not given.

Usually you get a licence with your hardware, if you sell your S4 Mk3 you have to request a licence transfer ID from NI (you can do this in your user account) for your hardware only - not for the Traktor Pro 3 licence. If you sell your S4 Mk3 with that transfer ID the buyer gets the same software as was originally included (or sometimes a newer version of that software), you should keep your Traktor Pro 3 licence that way. Your TP4 upgrade requires a Traktor Pro 3 licence in your account to continue to work.

First of all, thanks for your response !

So regarding selling my S4, since it is registered with my account and that I got the TP3 licence included with it, if I transfer it, the buyer will get TP3 while I still be able to use TP4 right ?
