Feature request: SOLO - how come unsoloing destroys your MUTE choices...??
I have groups muted, I Solo a group to tweak the sound of it, I Unsolo, and Maschine assumes I now want ALL my groups on. Is this not rather strange?? Feels like this would be good as a Shift-Solo action… but I need to Unsolo without losing all my Mutes!

Confirmed. I agree, if you've got some things muted, soloing one (muted or otherwise) should solo it, but unsolo should not reset everything, losing the mutes.

Ideally, one should be able to define how unsoloing works via the Maschine settings. Something like "persistent mute states when soloing" checkbox added to the settings?

totally agree, that's key in a system that can have running so many Groups and Sounds. I sometimes feel Native instruments designers think more like software developers and not like musicians who actually play and know musical needs.

sounds like a bug

There are two different concepts for Mute/Solo:
- Solo is a special Mute command which mutes all sources except the selected one. Therefore the previous mute state is replaced by a new one, and un-solo will therefore un-mute all sources.
- Mute and Solo are independently kept states for the sources, where Solo is overriding Mute. Here it is possible to add sources to the Solo state and even to Solo muted sources. Un-solo switches off the solo state and reverts to using the Mute state. However the last Solo state cannot be recalled.
Maschine implements the first concept.

Evidently. I for one would be extremely pleased if it implemented both, i.e.:
- Using the Solo button implements the (essential) second concept, like all other DAWs that I know of
- Using the Solo button with Shift implements the first - a handy addition, useful for performance.
What's not to like?
At the moment I'm finding implementation of only the first concept quite the ballache.

Only downside would be that it breaks the workflow and/or muscle memory for all current users. To which some users might react negatively.

Perhaps, but given that it's such a useful, I would say essential, function of any DAW, or even a 'DAW lite' like Maschine, they could easily whack it in.
A simple preference toggle could determine which of the Solo concepts is implemented when you press Solo, and which goes with Shift-Solo.
At the moment I'm finding it quite frustrating…

Might be time to add this suggestion to the official "Maschine Ideas" thread (if you've not already done so)…
1 -
I'd like to. I might be missing something obvious, but where is this Ideas thread?
0 -
Maybe under Automation & Modulation or Assistive Playing Tools.

Actually none of the above mentioned topics match and most of them are currently closed anyway.
Therefore I submitted a feature suggestion.
Others who would like to see this feature should do so as well using the official support form.
@Mudchild you could change the title of this thread and tag it as feature request. Then users supporting this idea can post here. Maybe it will get some traction that way.

You submitted on my behalf then? Thankyou. OK, I'll change the title

unfortunately it's not letting me. I click the 3 dots by the title but there are no options there at all
