T4 and Deck Focus

I have Z1 and X1 mk2 controllers connected to my Mac. To get Deck Focus to work, A or B gets orange color, I have to use my mouse and manually activate it. Is there a setting that lets Deck Focus automatically follow master track? If not, please Nativ implement this in a future update.

You shouldn't have to use your mouse.

Dive really deep into the midi settings... PREFERENCES » DEVICE »
Although I'm perplexed this isn't working for you as is and out of the box?

If you cannot find a way then custom midi map it:

    Add a New Mapping:

    • In the Controller Manager, click on Add... under Device.
    • Select Generic MIDI from the list.
    • Assign In-Port and Out-Port:
Under the Device Setup section, assign the In-Port and Out-Port to your Traktor Z1.
The MIDI command will be captured and displayed.
    • Set the Interaction Mode to Direct or Toggle based on how you want the button to behave.
    • Repeat the process for other decks if you want to control focus for multiple decks.
    • Once you've added and configured all the necessary mappings, click Close to save your changes and exit the Preferences window.
    • Test your mapping by using the assigned buttons or controls on your Traktor Z1 to switch the deck focus in Traktor Pro.

I just don't think you should have to do this though. I would check the drivers section on NI to be sure.

S4MK2 is the only NI controller that has an internal mapping of deck focus, and it has two, to indicate if top or bottom is selected, one for each side, top is blue, bottom is white.

There is sadly no mapping procedure to have deck focus follow the master deck designation, but you could, following the procedure delineated by @MrCee , assign the mentioned functions to your play and/or master buttons. In that case i would place it on the play buttons, check the box 'reverse' (so it activates when you release the button) and fill both modifier conditions, one with playstate of deck A, one with playstate of deck B ( first one state = ON/second one state = OFF).

Thx for reaching back. Will check it out tomorrow but I will use the X1 not the Z1. I let you know how it went.

Oh, thank you all for the insights. To be honest, I've been confused about the deck focus since the merger of Traktor Scratch Pro with Traktor Pro. I could swear that it was never a problem before, even when I mixed externally. As an example, the deck focus was always on the master deck. At first I thought that this was just a problem that I couldn't solve in TP 3, until I eventually just accepted it. But now I'm curious again and want to get it working again! :)

Was that Scratch Pro you used? I never had Scratch Pro and always had to manually adjust focus.

Yes, I used Traktor Scratch Pro back in the days. I sometimes even had the feeling that I had only imagined it, because it had never been possible since then, or rather it had just happened on its own. My mapping skills are and were limited and I never found a solution to the problem in the settings. Then at some point I just gave it up.

It's a shame that the old forum no longer exists. I think there were a few threads about it at the time, some of which were very informative. I think I'll have a look through the djtechtools forum today, or other DJ forums that dealt with this topic back then :)

Oh, you can still see the archive. Only gripe is the search routines not working.

Whaaaah, where did you find that? :) Cool, I just had a few nostalgic moments. I didn't actually mean this version of the forum, but an even older one... Before this one. Around the time when the people from the Traktor Bible and other heavy users exchanged ideas in it. That was really good nerd stuff :)

To make a long story short, I faded out.
Thx for your time and help. Let’s hope Native implements this in a future update.
