Anyone had any experience of the error 'MIDIDevice: Unable to unlock BMIDI DLL/driver' and have silver bullter for it. Often causes a complete freeze of Traktor and the host computer has to rebooted to be able to restart
Traktor.
I've since bought a new machine and although the fatal hang→ crash has happened once, there wasn't the coinciding 'MIDIDevice: Unable to unlock BMIDI DLL/driver' Event Viewer Error.
I have case open with NI about the crash. But I wont be looking for a silver bullet to the 'MIDIDevice: Unable to unlock BMIDI DLL/driver' issue as its gone away as far as I'm concerned.
I've since patched Traktor to 4.0.2 .. so who knows,,, maybe that made the problem go away.
I had to move things fwd with the experimental new machine build because this problem had been hanging around for so long and t was getting majorly embarrassing at gigs :)
Just to get this thread back on 'track' no my initial query …. and just a reminder that this is a Tracktor Hardware\Software thread :): After a long period of the problem going away - it has reoccurred and I've opened a new ticket. Just going back through the process of supplying diagnostic information and awaiting a reply with bated breath.
It has been advised previously to run LatencyMon fir 5 minutes after the freeze happens. Lolssss can you imagine?? I gig in the real world not frickin lala land .. so that wont happen!
Essentially i believe Traktor needs to have a log … most apps at least right to the Event Log. I do realise the Service is writing to the Event logging system, but the GUI neds to report responsibility and ownership at basic level when issues happen.
Can't you reproduce the bug at home?
Unfortunely not. I do many Live Streams as a resident for a local DnB crew, the music is a lot heavier, so I my mind the freeze is more likely to happen(?) And yes, I have asked if the output to a studio monitor Vs the 2K rig at the venue where the problem happens would be a factor, and they've said it won't make any difference what the output is.
It's happened on 3 different machines, 2 different operating systems and 2 different controllers with various Traktor Pro versions
I have to say there seems to have been a fair few Traktor Pro releases over the past year..which just happens to be the timeframe the freezes I'm seeing have been occurring.
I'd basically just like to know where the named dll resides so I can check the permissions, make sure its unlocked etc.
I've searched in vain for the dll.
And working in IT for many years I've seen issues like this countless times when it transpires the dll simply doesn't exist (has been remived, bad coding etc). In fact this happened in work a couple of days ago.
My customers would be a bit p1ssed if they were wating for over 12 months for a silver bullet. It certainly not a support model I'd personally support 😀
Live gig tonight and I'll have a spare laptop connected to the rig - no controller - paused, in cruise control and sync'd. Very amateurish... I might as well be running Splotify AI!! 😄

I sent an email to novation asking if their midi keyboard uses Bmidi. If not, I will disable it. Thanks again for the help.
Any news with MIDIDevice: Unable to unlock BMIDI DLL/driver issue in Traktor, because I’m experiencing the same problem and would like to know if there’s a definitive fix. Thanks
I’m running Windows 10, Traktor Pro 4, Traktor X1 MK3, Traktor A6
