Removing Expansions > Construction Loops to save space

Hello all,

I'm trying to slim down my drive by keeping as many NI products locally as possible while moving some things to an external drive. I noticed the Library > Samples > Loops > Construction folders are pretty big,

They are just stems, right?

The only downside I found to removing the Construction folder from Loops is that Maschine will be unable to load if you click on the Loops section, these files will be missing.

I opened every Project in Maschine and none gave me errors when I removed only the Construction folder.

I also opened Native Access, Battery, Massive, and Komplete Kontrol. Expansion kits and presets load fine in Battery and Massive. However, Loops from Expansions will not load in Komplete Kontrol. One Shots will.

Does anyone have anything to add? Something I'm missing?

My plan here is to fully install Expansions to my local HDD and even keep the Content folder local in Native Access, I'll then simply mimic the folder structure externally with only the Samples > Loops > Construction.

Best, Dave

    Hi Dave,

as far as I know you can't distribute NI content to multiple folders or drives. You can only separate the Application Location and the Content Location, so if you want your NI samples and loops on another drive you'd have to transfer all the other content data (instrument samples etc.) to that same drive and folder and then change the location in the Native Access preference menu to that specific folder.

You’re absolutely correct. I’m just saying that moving those files doesn’t really “break” your Native experience much depending on your workflow.

Uninstall all expansions except those that are for the genres you produce.

Also, scrutinize synth and plug-in installs, as well. The plug-ins weigh quite a bit together, especially when you need multiple formats installed.

You will save more space uninstalling the unnecessary expansions than removing the loops from all of them.

Good point! I have never installed them all or tried them all. So that’s a good idea. Install one. Use it. Uninstall if I don’t like it.

I haven’t installed many of the other NI products I don’t use. Like Symphony or Cinematic stuff. Those are huge!
