Problem processing 2 stems + 2 tracks (4 decks)?

Hi

I am testing the capabilities of my Mac (see below details of my machine) with Traktor. My CPU goes to the max, and I mean it almost crashes, when I play with 2 stems + 2 tracks (4 decks). Stems seems to be the problem here because when I play with 4 tracks on 4 decks, the computer seems to process things well. An additional note - my files are coming from an external SSD Sandisk drive which may be the root cause of the problem. Should I store my music files on my local HD to get better processing capabilities (knowing that the stems are already stored in my local music folder)? Or is it just my old laptop which can't keep up? Has someone experienced the same problem?

I saw a thread about processing times to generate stems. It takes me around 4-5min to generate stems for a 5-6min track

Thank you

Below my computer's details

Processor - 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

Memory - 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

OS - 14

External Drive - Sandisk Pro SSD 2T

    Heyo!

I believe when it comes to the stems separation the best thing to do is have all your collection in your internal HD, as you mentioned this can definitely change the performance of Traktor Pro 4.

I believe the external SSD might be the issue, why dont you import a small collection to your internal HD and give it a try? Let us know if something changes

    Thanks @Martiniix_NI

It works having everything in the internal HD of the laptop, definitely. No delay, no latency, everything working properly despite my old machine. Definitely best thing for live sessions is to have all files in the laptop. Shame my new Sandisk Pro SSD doesn't have a better processor

    Thank you
