Traktor S8: Setting off state brightness to 0%

To get a better contrast with keys in use and keys which are off, I want to change the "off state brightness" to 0%. I made changes to the S8.qml file, but this has no effect. The off-keys are still illuminated. Every value below 25% is ignored, although I can change the fader value to 1%. Any suggestions?

I’ve tried this before, but it doesn't seem possible. It’s probably hardcoded to a minimum of 25% in the firmware.
