Download speed is too slow

Did you leave it downloading?
I found similar in that I download one large file and it’s a fairly quick download and gives a reasonable estimated downtime.
I then download a similar sized file and it tells me I have hours left, but gradually the estimated time comes down and it ends up not taking much longer than the previous file.

Hello Igh1379, have you tried the steps in this Knowledge Base Article below:

Yes, I have similar observations where different files downloads differently in a consistent way. That means some files are slow regardless of computer/OS/size/etc. Some others downloads fast. A 17MB file can take forever. I was tracking the traffic to Akamai and the hops to Akamai here are fine but it doesn't send data evenly.

The download issues are consistent across different computers and OS including to the specific files. The Akamai servers are right next door and they generally responds fast. But they seem to send data slowly depending on which specific file.

It's okay. It's hard.

Hi folks, I'm a systems analyst in canada, as per tradition, I have enterprise-class network equipment on my desk and I don't use wifi for moving files around. My internet connection is symmetrical gigabit, it's a clean straight shot from the computer through the switch to the gateway. There are multiple services pumping chunks of data in and out of the audio workstation machine at full blast. There's multiple nics on here via TB4, the gateway connection has its own dedicated nic. I do not use proxies or VPN's for casual updates, and (most macos people don't know about this issue) my network service order has the gateway nic at the top followed by the other 3 local nics. I have dynamic MTU for the gateway nic. My download speed from NI for plugin updates exceeding 25gigs is literally intermittent kilobytes-per-second. All other external connections are blazing fast. I would hazard a guess that NI needs to have a chat with whomever they hired to play the role of "network engineer" and post a job listing for an actual network engineer. I'm too lazy to fire up wireshark and pluke forth wild theories about what they're doing wrong as it's technically not my wheelhouse, but I completely understand the disappointment from new purchasers and I don't blame them for seeking an alternate solution to NI. I too have sunk thousands of dollars into this company; it's 2024, and the network speeds feel worse than 1996, I can't launch Logic until these ridiculous updates have kompleted. This seriously kills the inspiration I had 45 minutes ago. Did you hear me NI? You're killing creativity with your technical problems….don't even get me started on the goofy NI "ancient paradigm" of a plugin user interface. All of these problems have been a plague for so many years, it looks like NI has grown too big to care.

…..and yet for others (including me) it just works. No speed issues whatsoever.
To my "non network expert" brain that says the issue is not at the Native Instruments end.

Slow download speeds are a recurring issue for me. I have a gigabit fiber connection, in the United States, and am connected via wired gigabit Ethernet. Most things on the Internet download pretty quickly and even on slower sites I typically get upwards of 20MB/second. But from Native Instruments my downloads are at about one megabyte per minute, which is just ridiculously bad. And given that Komplete is close to a terabyte large at this point, well, that makes actually installing this software quite a problem.
Are NI just like serving up their entire library from a single slow DSL connection in their office or something? They really should look into some sort of CDN mechanism to distribute the load, if their servers are really this overloaded. There are plenty of affordable high-bandwidth caching CDNs out there that can give their downloads high availability globally without much work (or expense) on their end.

Hello Music Family,
If you're experiencing slow download speeds with NI Access, it's likely because your location isn't a key market for NI, and they may not have adequate server support there.
I'm based in Dubai (UAE) with a high-speed internet connection (1Tb line). However, I'm currently experiencing slow download speeds, taking about 5 minutes for a 50MB update. With many users downloading during sales, this issue can be quite common.
A solution that worked for me is using a VPN to connect to a different regional server, like the UK. It significantly improved my download speed!
I hope this tip helps you too. Have a fantastic day!
