Sampling straight from Mac into Maschine +

Hi all,

I have a new Maschine + and im trying to sample direct from MAC into it. I have bought audio cable that runs out of headphone jack (stereo jack and splits into LandR (red and Black) and plugs into Line in on Maschine.I can hear the audio when I have the headphones on but when I plug the cable in it doesn't make it into Maschine!!!!!

I know this sounds very basic but if someone could tell me STEP BY STEP what to set my audio output/inputs to on both MAC and Maschine + id be forever in my debt.

Im having the same issue with the new Mic that I've plugged into Mic in on Maschine+. Can't get the Mic to be heard in Sample mode.

So frustrating!!! It can't be this hard.
