MIDI assigned/learned Circuit Tracks Knobs Not Automating

Hi - I performed a simple "learn" to control the cutoff parameter - sending a knob from my Circuit Tracks to control the cutoff of the minifreakV. The knob maps just fine and moves the V filter knob. It also creates an automation lane. But it does not record automation. I've tried a few things like assigning the cutoff to an automation lane, etc. But when I record and have "auto" on, nothing gets automated when I use the Circuit track - even though the cutoff knob is correctly mapped and moving the cutoff knob on the minifreak V. I prefer the awesome workflow of the step sequencer on the Circuit and it works great for adding note sequences to the Maschine sequencer but the knob movements are not being recorded - thx :)

Another strange behavior that might be of help - Although the V cutoff moves when the Circuit Tracks knob is physically turned, if I record automation of that knob on the Circuit Track's sequencer and is indeed automating (the light fades in and out to indicate movement of knob), it does s=not turn the knob on the V i.e. does not move the cutoff on the V. - the knob has to be physically turned for it to work - but the midi message alone does not get the job done...weird.

I checked deeper into the manual on how to set up pages for control knobs - more efficient from a workflow context then setting the Circuit knobs - the lesson here is to read the manual before posting :p
