It appears I don't understand how volume settings work with Kontakt and it's giving me a real headache.

I use Kontakt 5 as plugin in Cubase Pro 13 and I can't seem to make the KontakT Instrument volumes stick. I have the Engine setting set to 0dB and in a Multi I created I have set Instrument Options MIDI Controller #7 (Volume) range to 0db, and that seems to be holding but I can't get each Instrument's volume slider to stay at 0db. I set them all, even save the Multi, can reload the Multi and all seems fine. Save project, close and reopen again and all the Instrument volume sliders have changed (usually in the -5 to -10 dB range lower). Why???

What's your operating system? Is it also happening with Kontakt 6 Player or Kontakt 7 Player? This still happens when this box is unticked?

Any automation written in your MIDI parts? Any MIDI controller plugged in?

I am on Windows 10 Home.

I didn't try with K6 or K7 as I don't own them and the player for 7 showed 'Demo' for my user instruments so wasn't sure if it would be reliable for test.

There is absolutely no automation in the current two Cubase 13 Pro projects I am experiencing these issues in.

I will try unchecking to box you showed when I am back at the workstation later this evening.

Ok, it was the checked 'Accept standard controllers for V & P' box. I thought I had tested that but then did check against MIDI faders in Cubase and saw they were affecting it. So I unchecked it and the K5 Instruments now stay as set at 0dB and I can control audio levels in Cubase. All good. I think this is my preferred way but if I want to change, I now know how (as my original post said, and appears I was right, lol "I don't understand how volume settings work with Kontakt") .

Now, for another issue that showed up in the process. I have 2 Cubase projects I am currently working in with Kontakt 5 instruments. Both now have the controllers box unchecked. In one project the instruments meters show active levels as expected, as do their output meters but, in another project, per the below screenshot, only the output meters show level. Why is this?

Thanks for the update, good to know you found a way to make it work.

I don't really understand the new issue here. So there's no level showing at all, in any of those 2 instruments in the rack, or only the second one? If it's only the second one, 2 things:

In a multi, instruments have different MIDI channels, first one here is on channel 1, and the second one is on MIDI channel 3, you would need to create a track with MIDI channel 3 or change the MIDI chanel on your keyboard.
Unless you want to use multiple outputs in Cubase, both instruments should have the same output: st1

Like the screen shot shows, no levels show in either of the (both active at time of screenshot) instruments but levels do show in the lower output view. I do want them assigned to the outputs and midi channels as I have them. The instrument levels show right back up if I recheck the box in your screenshot.

I got the idea that maybe the related MIDI channels faders in the DAW might be down (though with the box unchecked that should make a difference) but they were up fully. Very strange.
