Porting Komplete 13 on to a new computer. Help!

Hello all.

I've just got a new computer and want to transfer all my NI software over. I know that you have to uninstall everything on the old one. I’ve managed to use the uninstall feature on some libraries but others need to be uninstalled from the Windows start app/program menu. Unfortunately, not all of them are listed there and I can’t work out how to get them listed. I’ve tried a few online suggestions but have not been able to do it.

Is it possible to just uninstall native access and then install that on my new computer to get komplete etc up and running? Native Access is on the app/program list.

Any advise would be very gratefully received!

You do not necessarily have to uninstall (or reinstall) anything - dependant on how your old machine was set up. (and what you have done or not done to this point)

Example - if all your NI libraries were installed to an external drive or say a "D" drive on the former machine - it is simply a matter of ensuring all files are transferred/copied back to a "new" D drive on your new machine. You could even take the entire physical "D" drive from old machine and stick it in the new one. Then install Native Access and use the Locate function to "inform" Native Access where the existing files are and this could save you hours of re-download time.

However, if your "new" machine has no new D drive or you uninstalled/deleted everything from the old machine - you have no choice but to start from scratch by firing up Native Access and installing your desired bits and pieces of K13 one by one.

VP is right. My current library files (for all products, not "just" Native Instruments' products) totals 4.5 TB, so I'd be here forever if I went the re-install route; even though I have gigabit internet now.

I've even gone so far as to just transfer my drives into the new computer and see if it all still works. And it does.

The key is to not change any drive letters (assuming it's Windows) during the process.

I've been having good luck with the latest iteration of Native Access, but I still don't like how it actually limits and hurts power users. There should be choices such as "Install VST only", so that you can be sure to get the latest DLLs and VST3s, but without the hassle of waiting for a friggin' 90 GB library to download all over again. But with gigabit ethernet, it's definitely a lot less painful now than it once was.
