Can I gift my unregistered product to a friend?

I bought a VST under my account, and I want to give it as a gift to a friend.

I haven't registered it yet. Is there anyway that I can do that?

If you've not registered it you can just give the serial number to your friend and they can add it to their account using Native Access. You only need to go through the transfer process if you've actually registered the software to your account.

Probably the best course of action would be to contact NI's Account support team for help:

Note that your friend needs his/her own Native Instruments account as well.
