how to randomly effect audio output levels from a Reaktor instrument

I am seeking a way to apply a randomly generated control to the output volume of a Reaktor Sound Generator instrument, such as Metaphysical Function or Skrewell, so that the heard sound can be made intermittent, irregular, or be made silent for periods of time.

Is it a module that I must patch into the signal chain at the output stage for example ?

Or is there some other generic idea I just apply to an output stage of either Reaktor or my computer output ?

Don't know much about this stuff, forgive my ignorance. Any help would be appreciated.

I love randomly effected/generated materials that create the unexpected, especially in terms of continuity/discontinuity.

If you use a DAW, you can just use automation to randomly automate volume at a certain pace, time etc...

i use reaktor for live performance and sometimes running stand alone outside of Logic, so I wanted some “automated” control that doesn’t sound automated ! The random control would need to function in real-time without my drawing automation.

I want to be able to control the output volume of a sound generator synth (that already has a degree of autonomy in the way it produces sounds) with some kind of random procedure that decides volume/output levels. I would also like to have a little control of how that randomness behaves, but that's not even 100% necessary.

Is that a help ?

Hmm...maybe I understood a part of it only...

If you mean little control, you can just slightly trigger the output level with the automation.

For example, between -3db and -4.5db.

Or you can just use tremolo effect.

These are my best guesses when it comes to little tweaking of the output volume.

Sounds like you want to use not automation but modulation. You could achieve this easily with blocks. Just route the instrument through a VCA and use a slow smoothed random LFO to control the volume level. This LFO could also be modulated by additional LFOs to achieve an even more unpredictable effect.

Right - so these blocks can be patched into the existing instrument, and I can find a VCA and LFO in preexisting modules ?

sorry I don't know much about the back end but willing to learn.
