What is the purpose of the setting in preferences for Pattern length ?

If I set the Pattern Length in preferences to 2 bars it does not seem to matter and every time my new patterns default to Auto which is so annoying. Is there someway to set and forget this so it always goes to 2 bars on new pattern length?

Is "Grow Pattern While Recording" uncheck in the preferences, disabling should make all your new patterns the length you picked.

How are you creating the new patterns? Thru hardware or software?

I have the opposite issue lol. Whenever I set it to auto, it stops at 1 bar. I prefer to have it on auto though, because once you press stop after 2 bars in your case, it just makes the pattern 2 bars
