S4 MK2 deck fading out

Hey all

I have a S4 MK2 controller which has had very minimal use in the past 8 years or so. Always been in flight case. Started to play around with it again and after couple of days I noticed one of the decks volume to fade out even tho fader was all the way up. Touching the fader instantly turned the volume up again but then started to fade out again. Sometimes the volume stays up but it seems to fade out more and more.

Probably fader issue. Any way to replace it (and where to get the spare part from)? Or could the issue be somewhere else?

thanks

Maybe use air pressure cleaning tool to remove the grit and dust.

Yeah, start with air pressure. And then there are also some special fader contact lubes you can buy.

For example Deoxit F5 Fader lube.

i second lord carlos advice. i have a s4 mk2 i bought 2nd hand which had the same problem. I initially thought "******, i got screwed over". Then i used this special spray, "Deoxit F5 Fader" (i picked this one, because i was told more generic ones eat up the carbon tracks of faders. no idea if it's true or not, but i was not ready to take the gamble). It's night and day. it's like the problem never existed.

i would advise opening the s4 and removing the fader PCB (it's quite easy, it is a separated PCB board). it will allow you to clean the residual spray.
