Inability for MASCHINE Users to Create a Default MIKRO Pad Color Layout for ALL Kits

Hello Kai et al.

I am writing about what I consider to be a fundamental design/functionality flaw in MASCHINE: The ability to create a User created Default Pad Color Layout for all kits in Maschine MIKRO that displays at all times, including MIDI Mode. I have discussed this with NI's Renee at length. Please see Ticket #4002196 for lengthy discussion, screenshots. Renee agreed with lack of functionality, suggested NI add as an enhancement/improvement in MASCHINE functionality. FYI, below is the Color Pad Layout that I want displayed at all times by MASCHINE in all modes, including MIDI mode.

Here's a head's up to forstall sincere attempts at simple "fixes": Please note that my Pad Color layout has 4 Pads in White in the lower left. As you know, Maschine allows Color assignment of Pads 2 ways: from within Maschine itself, which does NOT have the option of assigning a Pad in White…AND from the Controller Editor, where you can assign a Pad in White - see attached screeshots...

But Pads can have different things, it's not 100% consistent on Expansions... It would make a lot more sense to me to select Pad Color based on content (maybe the Tags), instead of Pad #number.

The Problem with Maschine is that it does not, by NI's design, allow you to set up a White Pad in the Drum Layout. Even NI's own people admit this but haven's addressed this, which is just poor functional design.

When you load Maschine as a plugin you cannot choce a White pad because that option is not available. That's just poor design/functionality - especially since NI allows you to do this in the Template Tab.

In Maschine mode white is reserved for system indications, like making a new Group for example, amongst other stuff, allowing users to use it would make some things kind of confusing. But you're free to use it in MIDI Mode.

AND from the Controller Editor, where you can assign a Pad in White. That Users cannot create a default Drum Layout using White Pads is poor design and unnecessary limitation. NI engineers have already (2023) acknowledged that this is an unnecessary GUI/functional limitation, subject to correction.

So, correct it! Way, way, way overdue...
