Buying Used Komplete Kontrol... No software included
I purchased Komplete Kontrol keyboard on ebay. Little did I know, the seller only offered the keyboard, no software included. Kind of a slimy thing to do.
Am I totally out of luck? If I go through the keyboard's registration, is there no way to just "gain" the software since the hardware is now under a new user? What are my options?

You probably need to create a support ticket. I think they'll give you the licence for software that originally came with the hardware. Support are pretty busy at the minute though so expect a wait.

The seller should transfer the hardware serial registration to you after the purchase as explained on the page linked to by mykejb.
When seller transfers the hardware then if and only if the keyboard came with software as base model then you will get a copy of that software on account. We need to know what is the keyboard first, meaning only S-Series originally comes with the Komplete Select.
Otherwise then as anyone else then you can get the Komplete Start for free as can anybody else !
But no matter what then because there is a sale then you can buy any Komplete 14 version (and if you get Select then an upgrade) at half price at the moment ! You can compare pack content and prices at the compare page ! If you get/have Komplete Select for S-Series then you can see the upgrade prices here when logged in !

I had this happen, initially NI said the seller needs to unregister it etc, but said if I sent them proof of purchase they would transfer it over, which they did.
it was just before the current sale and I emailed them the evening my keyboard turned up, they responded first thing, I sent them proof of purchase, within the hour they said I could now register it. And download the software.
All worked fine, didn’t need software as have 14 CE, but wanted hardware in my name.
Sadly it will probably take a few days now due to their sales etc
They also did the same when I bought the Maschine Mk3 from CEX in the Uk (second hand store) as had zero clue who original owner was
