Thank you

    Hi @Oasisdweller

without any further it's very hard to diagnose where in you signal chain the clipping occurs.

Do the input and output meters in the Guitar Rig header show any clipping?

Not sure, trying to figure it out. I'm so new at this. Are there some sample presets I can download to get acquainted with the program?

Be sure to de-select the following:

This will show all the GR7 presents included, they don't to be downloaded separately.

Regarding clipping, try to open a new preset without any effect and hear what happens. If the sounds is clipping, check in- and output meters as Eddit proposed, try reducing the gain on your audio-interface input and check the latency (File - Preferences - Audio - latency) If latency is too low, clipping might occur, but as Eddie mentioned please provide some additional information.

You can just lower the IN or OUT volume and that's a problem solved!

You can also use IN and OUT volume creatively to create an alternative for compression effect, or use automation and have fun!

Audio clipping = Lower latency than your system can handle.

    Increase your buffer size. :-)

Thank you guys for all the help. That problem has gone away and I am now blessed with a bigger one in case someone has the answer.

I could not get GR7 and Audacity to share sound, as a matter of fact everything lost audio as soon as GR7 was open. I was told to try Flex ASIO plus some other file that helped it fit in. Well unfortunately, nothing is fitting in. Audacity will only use GR7 as a plug in for pre-recorded audio plus multiple other glitches that take the fun out of it.

Anyway, I'll keep messing with this unless someone has the magic pill.

    Thanks,

    Joel

"Audacity will only use GR7 as a plugin"

Of course it will. This is normal behavior. Audacity is an audio editor, not a DAW.

If you want to use both programs at the same time and GR7 as stand alone and not as a plugin (i wonder why, what's wrong with using it as a plugin?), you need a multi-client audio application. There are very-very few of those. I strongly recommend the excellent Voicemeeter (or the extremely simple Virtual Audio Cable).

...or its new, younger brother, the VB Matrix.

Another solution is the SteelSeries Sonar app, but i haven't test it yet.

There is one more, it supposed to be more "professional" but it is rather complicated for the average user, the ASIO Link Pro. It is abandoned now (no further development), and offered to the users for free.

I understand about the plug in but Audacity will only apply it to recorded data, I would like to be able to make changes to my sound as I go.
