The new mk3 is a wide body.....

I haven't heard this said here, so thought to mention it because it could be a factor for some folks....

I haven't plans to buy an mk3 because I really like my mk1 and don't want more screens plus there are so many problems w. this new product and my mk1 works better for the way I make music

I couldn't help but notice the dimensions of the mk3..particularly the width..It is so much wider than my mk1 and the way other midi controllers appear to the point where it wouldn't even fit on my workspace. I would have to buy a new workspace. That may be a factor for some people so thought to point that out..Plus it looks stupid being that wide IMO. Lots of people make music in confined areas it seems

The S61 MK3 is only a few inches wider than my Arturia Keylab 61, but that's because Arturia decided to put the mod/pitch wheels above the keys instead of on the side. I'm not sure you could really make the keyboard any less wide unless you went with smaller keys, which I think would be a deal breaker for a lot of people.

Sorry to rain on your parade , but actually then the S61 MK3 is around 36mm less wide than the S61 MK2 .

So with respect to width then is it not the Komplete S Series MK2 that you ought to be complaining about more than the S Series MK3 ?

(The S61 MK3 though is 26 mm deeper and is also 2 mm higher if that matters)

But perhaps you also complained about the size of the size of the S Series MK2 when that came out ?

i;m used to L(Length) W(Width) H(Height) with Width being = Deep I guess..Like how Amazon reports things here in the States..how things are customarily reported at least here in the States. The mk3 is quite wide as i reported. It takes up a lot of width/depth space on a work surface and i dont think that is a good design. I think it useful people be made aware this device is very wide.. that it may not fit for them

Don't try to make your perception of this measurement an "american" thing... referring to the depth dimension as width is odd on a universal basis. ;)

I think that the 'Length' more apply if it is about a stick that you are holding in one end or if a piece of wood where you look at it from one end to another. Where as the 'Width' applies to a situation like with the keyboard where you sit or stand in-front of the keyboard and that which you would like to call length is actually the Width that extends to the sides from where you sit. The fact that some people thinks that you measure keyboards in the same manner as if you measure a stick or a piece of wood does not really negate that width and depth extends from where you sit or stand in front of the keyboard !

I hope that you find my 'philosophical' treatise on the matter to your liking ! 😉

hahahaha...I guess I am expected to know how different countries measure things before posting . have fun w. this. you experts can school us on what dimensions really mean. I had no idea that the length of a stick is different than the length of a keyboard for example. carry on without me please..

for those interested in this device, it might be good to determine if it fits in your workspace before purchasing.

This has NOTHING to do with country.

It is about usage/operational orientation.

Think about a car dashboard... as you sit in the driver's seat:

Width is side-to-side reach

Depth is front-to-back reach

Height is top-to-bottom reach

Measuring a keyboard dimension is the same as a car dashboard.

It is NOT like measuring a box that has no usage/operational orientation.
