I'm having the same issue. Turned in a ticket over 3 days ago. How long until I hear feedback?

I had the S88 Mk2 and just tried installing the Mk3. What a complete coprolith the installation process is to key a midi keyboard going. NA2, hardware service, KK, firmware updater and then the real fun begins, or not.
Look at the community since Oct 2023. Many unhappy folks on the Windows platform with alleged work arounds that don't. Why has NI made this so difficult a process? I now have a white screen bricked unit, acquired through Thoman, and now I have to return it for service? And no, the 5 power cycle did not recover it.
This is the worst implementation I have ever seen of a new product by ANY company.
Yes I already have a ticket in with tech support. Only 1 picture can be sent? Another limitation. Yes, I tried the 2024-FEB-05 work around, no joy. In fact, that is what caused the white screen of death.
I would love to hear how NI is going to RELIABLY fix this problem!
    Thank you,
    Michael Peters

    Apologies for responding in English.

Are you still unable to update your S88 on Windows?

The S88 driver was broken until December, when Microsoft rolled out the new driver. For users on fully and properly updated systems, we see no failure to update the S88 on Windows any more. If you are still seeing problems our support team can walk you through the final resolution steps.

It sounds like you might be experiencing an issue with USB-C that some computers have, and that affects peripherals such as the Kontrol S MK3.

The workaround is to try connecting via a USB-C hub instead of going direct into the computer's USB-C ports. This usually fixes the error, which can appear randomly on affected computers. Note that this error is nothing to do with, but affects the Kontrol S MK3.

@Jeremy_NI would you be able to help look into this and get the driver installed for @mwpeters75 ? Thanks!

    Hi Michael,

I've been in the community and seen the issues. As frustrating as it is, it boils down to the following:

    • The S88 driver released in September had an issue on Windows
    • The driver was fixed within days, but didn't make it into Microsoft's release cycle until the end of 2023
    • Until that point in time, the only method was a long-form workaround as we all had to hurry up and wait for the automatic distribution of the driver
    • The driver fix is now available, and verified with a 100% success rate when the recommended steps are followed for users who have had an issue prior. That is hopefully what @Jeremy_NI and team can lead you through.

Recently, we also shipped updated firmware, OS 1.5.7. Until the release of 1.5.7, there was a bug that could appear rarely and at random, that would brick a unit during update. It sounds like unfortunately that's what happened to you.

Both of these issues are now resolved, but of course a bricked unit requires replacement. My sincere apologies for the experience you've had, having been affected by these two issues.

Thank you Matthew for your gracious reply given my intemperance.
Fortunately, the unit was not bricked but in some kind of twilight state. After numerous alternative attempts to update (different PCs, USB 3 hub et al) I was oddly enough able to complete the firmware upgrade using a Raspberry Pi solution and an onboard USB to Ethernet software solution. Let's hope that there is not a firmware update for a while and please be sure to do regression testing across numerous S88 MK3s and Windows PCs.
Please consider having a graphic upload function and an edit function to this community board!
    Thank you,
    Michael Peters

I'm closing this thread. We should have closed it before. The title is way too generic and it's getting a bit messy.

If you have an issue with the S88 MK3 and the firmware updater, check this post: S88 MK3 - How to fix Windows Driver and Firmware updater issues.

If the issue is different or the fix doesn't work, please create a new post or jump in an existing one matching your issue and please try to make the title as precise as possible.
