transferring music files from laptop to external SSD Traktor Pro 3

Hello all, maybe it has been asked before, or even explained before, but could not find a suitable answer for me :

I bought a new laptop, transferred all data, Traktor Pro 3 is working fine, no probs with that

The only thing is, I dont want my music (tracks in a folder, per month) on my laptop anymore, but on an external SSD, so I can save space on my laptop.

got a Samsung T7 1GB SSD, but how do I install all my music (mp3/wav/aiff/etc) onto the SSD, in stead of my laptop, so Traktor is (only) reading the tracks from the external SSD, and not from the laptop anymore (because I want to remove the separate tracks (in monthly folders) from my laptop

(yes, i do know how to transfer files from laptop to an external disk, im not THAT of a noob ;) )

what filemanagement of Traktor needs to be changed?

thanks Lostinfoundation, but that is (correct me if im wrong) about the WHOLE Traktor settings, done that, Traktor is working on the new laptop like a charm

its about deleting all the music tracks (mp3/wav/aiff/etc) from the LAPTOP, so Traktor only looks for the music tracks on the external disc.

So, the Main Traktor data (program/settings etc) is on the laptop, and the actual music on the external disc..

While the method suggested by @LostInFoundation works for me, it's awfully slow for big libraries. In the past I've had to swap disks before a gig due to failure in my main external drive and the experience "was not nice" 😥

The quick workaround on macOS is to rename the drive to match the old drive name (or to change the drive letter mountpoint in Windows). Of course, this is only valid if both drives music folders follow the exact same structure (which I've made sure it's the case).

I have also tried to have my music folders as symbolic links, but that fails misserably: either Traktor tells me the folder does not exist or I end up with a somehow corrupted library. I think this would be the ideal solution, maybe someone from NI can comment on why this does not work?
