Explanation of DFD vs Sampler modes

Hi, I'm new at KSP and just getting the basics down. Can someone explain to me the difference between DFD and Sampler modes (and/or any of the other modes)? I'm only using the old Kontakt3 PDF lol. Thanks.

    this is a read the manual thing, but essentially Sampler mode is playing back from RAM, DFD is playing back from disk. original hardware samplers were only playing back from RAM, and ideally it's still the highest performance method. DFD relies less on your precious RAM but is slower (not by much these days).
