Maschine plus pedal function w/ effects

I feel like the pedal functions are not even usable. I couldn't get it to work right to start a sample. I guess I have to change the settings in controller editor somewhere. I tried but couldn't figure it out. Luckily I can trigger while playing trumpet with one hand. Even then I have to manipulate buttons just to select the scene and open the sampler mode. So a pedal is kind of useless unless I'm just looping one after another like a basic traditional looping pedal. The pedal input would be very valuable if you could connect an expression pedal to control the live effect touchstrip. You could use it like a wah pedal. Maybe it can do that but I don't see it anywhere in the manual.
