Kontakt 6 seems to think my virtually empty hard drive's full - help?

Dear Anyone.

TOTAL Kontakt NOOB here - be nice! Trying to save a MULTI. No idea how much space a MULTI takes up. Tried to save it on my internal drive C that's got about 80gig spare, it said it couldn't save the patch, possible reason the hard drive was full. So I thought 'Jeez, how big IS a multi, anyway! I'm only using 4 instruments.' And bought a formatted 1T external hard drive.

Tried saving to that - the hard drive's empty apart from a TINY bit used by Windows - and got exactly the same message. 'Your patch has not been saved. Possible reason - hard drive full.' Yes I have got the right hard drive going (the external one!) How the heck big IS a 4-instrument Multi!?!?! And if it really IS bigger than (almost) 1TB - any way to shrink the thing down? I mean I've got the Korg M1 and I save multis on that all the time and never have this problem.

With respect to you using JBRIDGE to keep using Quick Score Elite Level 2 then I am very sympathetic towards that as I myself in so many ways have kept using old things that I like , and also I have a hard time using most any modern DAW. However that does not take away the fact that most developers will not support 32 bit going forward since it's considered obsolete , and also , here , I am very sorry but I have no knowledge of the software that you use.

I can however give you some general pointers based on experience and common logic ! . Since your problem appear to be with using the JBRIDGE then that also rather much suggests that that may also be part of the problem ! I will suggest that you try alter security settings by first running both the JBRIDGE and the Quick Score Elite Level 2 as Administrator if possible else try altering security settings to all destinations involved especially the external drive. Try setting the access for the external drive to full write access for all users !

Also , since this is about 32 bit software use then maybe you should look into to try to adjust the compatibility settings for especially Quick Score Elite Level 2 to what previous version of Windows that you might find appropriate !?

Else I would advice you to try contacting the makers of respectively JBRIDGE and Quick Score Elite Level 2 to see if they have something to add..

In the end, with all due respect , then I'd have to say that it is begging for an extreme amount of trouble to try to channel a 64 bit plug-in into working inside a 32 bit piece of software, if that is what you are doing!, especially sine the 64 bit software is built to take advantage of a lot of memory which the 32 bit is not and can not ! And that may give reason to all sorts of unforeseen program behavior...

But you could try the above advice to see if it is of any help at all ! ? Otherwise then alas you ought maybe consider to migrate to a more modern 64 bit DAW if Sionsoft will not provide you with a 64 bit version if you want to be able to use newer software and plug-ins.

As Uwe303 kind of suggests then it could be an issue with Windows user permissions or being blocked by your AV...

Make sure that you are logged in to Windows as a user with credentials sufficient to access the resources that you want to access. (a.g. be logged in as an Admin on PC)

When seeking assistance please always state your most important information such as platform and Windows version (and preferably also info on CPU, GPU and system memory amount) (The latter especially to establish that your computer meets any minimum specifications)..

Otherwise , try starting Kontakt as stand-alone application as an Admin to see if that makes any difference.

If not , then check your external drive in Windows explorer and check available space and that it is NTFS file system formatted. Then make sure that you can copy (can be any file like a small text file) to the drive to make sure that you have write access...

Also check your path settings in Kontakt (e.g. Engine and Loading sections) and make sure that you have write access to there !

Dear Poorfellow et al.

My bad. I'm using Windows 10 but a 32-bit DAW, I've JBRIDGED my legally obtained Kontakt. If I launch Kontakt as a standalone, it saves the multi (thanks for that idea, Poorfellow, never thought of that!) If I launch the JBRIDGED version, THEN it goes into its 'hard drive might be full' routine.

Is that saying you can't JBRIDGE Kontakt? I promise you I'm not doing anything nefarious with the program, it's just my 32-bit DAW's the only one I've ever actually understood, so I'm trying to keep using it but with more modern sounds. It's Quick Score Elite Level 2, think DORICO except less complicated (and a heckuva lot cheaper!) I've got JBRIDGED Maizeplayer plugins which work - the GUIS vanish if you're not careful - seems to be an ongoing bug in JBRIDGE, that - but once you understand what to do you can handle it.

Kontakt works, as in plays all its patches, fine, it's just saving multis.
