Quantize performance or loop without metronome

Is there a method or workflow that would allow someone to freely play a few bars of rhythmic patterns and then have Maschine adjust the scene, pattern size and tempo to this first performance?

The rationale is that sometimes, we can be more creative and come up with good rythmic patterns without the tyranical click of the metronome. Often a cool freestyle pattern we come up will immediately vanish from our mind as soon as we turn the metronome.

By muting the metronome and proactively creating a longer than needed pattern, the problem does not go away as the loop will end and repeat before or after the actual performance is finished and also the tempo won't magically align to it.

Thanks for this awesome discussion space!

There are other programs that can do this better. Some of them with retrospective recording (Ableton Live to name one) or some with automatic tempo detection (I said some, but in facts I know only one that does it: Loopy Pro on iPad, which has also retrospective recording)

There is not such feature unfortunately! I love the capture function in Ableton!
