Loop sounds in drum kits don't trigger unless playback is stopped.

New to Maschine (using mk3 mikro and M32). I'm finding the behavior with loop sounds very strange. For example if I load up the First Impressions Kit, it has some instrument loops for banks 9-12. These work great if everything is stopped. I can play around and make some grooves. But when I start to try to create, and have a pattern or song playing, they make no sound when I press the pad. All the other drum sounds work, just not the loop sounds. If I am in record mode, they will add the loop to the pattern, but only as the whole loop starting from beginning of measure, with no real control on timing or anything.

What am I doing wrong here?

(CPU is at 7% usage and RAM at 40%, so I don't think it's my computer)

They probably are Audio modules and not Sampler module. If you want to play them like the other pads, switch the module type

I really tried looking through the options and I guess I don't know what that means. I am just loading up kits included with various expansion packs and instruments.

If I look through the settings for the Sound, I see playback has Loop or Gate. Seems like maybe Gate is closer to what I want?

Thanks for always being the one to respond to my questions, I appreciate it.

It’s a different field. Maschine can load audio into 2 types of modules: the Sampler module and the Audio module. If you select a pad and push the plug-in button, the first slot you’ll see will tell you what module type is loaded (and eventually in the ones after you’ll see the fxs applied to this module). You can also see this chain in the mixer, but let’s start with one way to not confuse things too much ☺️.

Let’s take as an example the First Expressions Kit you named. Try to load it, select a pad where the sound is playing as you expect and push the plug-in button. You will see that this sound is loaded in a Sampler module. Then chose one of those that are not producing sounds when the patterns are playing and you will see that it is loaded in an Audio module.

If you want to change it to a Sampler module to play it like the others, you need to push the 4d encoder on your MK3 and from the list that will appear change it to Sampler (also this can be done in different ways, but as said at the moment let’s stick to one).

If then you want to learn how to play them as Audio modules (loop and gate) it is another different discussion, but you can ask and I will try to help you 😉
