Basic 8th note modern rock bass sound

Recently picked up Komplete and just learning to use everything.

I'm trying to figure out how to create a basic bass line with 8th notes at around 150bpm of a "modern" rock track. Something like the bass tone you would hear on countless modern rock tracks, "Mr Brightside" or "Use Somebody" for lack of a better example.

So far, I have a midi track of a couple bars per note playing 8th note downstrokes, but everything I've tried out sounds very "articulated" or "funky" (I'm mot sure what the proper vocabulary is, I hope this description helps). I'm just trying to get a smooth basic sound.

I've watched countless videos but they all describe making really funky basslines and nothing covering just basic 4 root notes (from a 4 chord progression) playing 8th notes bassline. Maybe what I'm trying to is really obvious but I'm totally at a loss how to achieve it.

Thank you so much to anyone who has advice or can point me in the right direction. Hopefully from an instrument from Komplete 14 Ultimate (I don't have Icon Bass).
